US, China strike deal after extensive talks in Switzerland as Trump official touts ‘resolving’ ongoing trade war

The US and China have agreed on a deal to help resolve the trade war raging between the world’s two largest economies, top Trump administration officials announced Sunday.

Details of the deal — struck during negotiations in Switzerland over the weekend — were not revealed, but officials teased that more information will be shared on Monday.

“The U.S. has a massive $1.2 trillion trade deficit, so the President declared a national emergency,” US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Sunday. “We’re confident that the deal we struck with our Chinese partners will help us work toward resolving that national emergency.” President Trump has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on goods from China, with China slapping retaliatory tariffs on American exports.

Greer joined Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng for the talks in Geneva, Switzerland, over the weekend to address the triple-digit tariff.

“I can tell you that the talks were productive,” Bessent teased.

The announcement comes after the Trump administration unveiled a framework for a trade deal with the United Kingdom last week.

China is America’s third-largest trading partner and has long drawn ire from Trump over its practices, including exporting deadly fentanyl, currency manipulation, intellectual property theft, forced technology transfers and more.

Some estimates have pegged annual Chinese IP theft from the US at $225 to $600 billion annually.

Last year, the US had a $295.4 billion trade deficit with China, a major pet peeve of Trump’s

It’s important to understand how quickly we were able to come to [an] agreement, which reflects that perhaps the differences were not so large as maybe thought,” Greer added.

“There was a lot of groundwork that went into these two days.”

On Saturday, Trump crowed that “GREAT PROGRESS MADE” in deliberations with China

So much winning…for now

The US Court of International Trade is about to address the issue of whether Trump has the authority to impose tariffs. The three judges presiding over this matter are:
Timothy Reif, a Trump-nominated judge who is a Democrat with a reputation as a protectionist. He previously served as general counsel for the office of the U.S. trade representative during President Barack Obama’s administration.
Judge Gary Katzmann, a former federal prosecutor and state appeals court judge in Massachusetts whom Obama nominated to the trade court and is known for taking a scholarly approach to scrutinizing cases.
Judge Jane Restani, was appointed to the court by President Ronald Reagan in 1983 and previously served as the court’s chief judge.

Reif and Katzmann…..

Meanwhile, Congress just sits there. Trump is making trade deals, peace deals, lowering the price of pharmaceuticals, etc. One man is doing all the heavy lifting. And the House and the Senate, led by the GOP, both sit there and say, “It’s a shame those judges are giving you a hard time. And those Executive Orders ... bet you’d like those to be codified in legislation, huh? Well, anyway ...”

If congress fails to codify these EOs into law, I can promise you no incumbent will receive my vote. I will vote to primary them, and failing that, in the general I will vote third-party against them or not at all.

It’s time to get off the pot. America needs its legislative branch to lift a finger and do something for once besides paying lip service.

President Trump is taking bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country.

The orders make clear that the flow of contraband drugs like fentanyl to the United States, through illicit distribution networks, has created a national emergency, including a public health crisis.

Chinese officials have failed to take the actions necessary to stem the flow of precursor chemicals to known criminal cartels and shut down money laundering by transnational criminal organizations.

In addition, the Mexican drug trafficking organizations have an intolerable alliance with the government of Mexico. The government of Mexico has afforded safe havens for the cartels to engage in the manufacturing and transportation of dangerous narcotics, which collectively have led to the overdose deaths of hundreds of thousands of American victims. This alliance endangers the national security of the United States, and we must eradicate the influence of these dangerous cartels.

There is also a growing presence of Mexican cartels operating fentanyl and nitazene synthesis labs in Canada. A recent study recognized Canada’s heightened domestic production of fentanyl, and its growing footprint within international narcotics distribution.

The US is headed down the chute of the nation chipper. The expected future isn’t going to be pleasant. I’m in favor of fighting rather than waiting to get chopped to pieces.

[Perhaps]

RINO ‘Representative’:

You are expendable.

You worry about losing the next election. I can almost certainly make that happen if you don’t support me.

I can raise tens of millions to fund a primary opponent. You probably won’t even get to the general election.

Should you survive my primary efforts, I can tell my people in your district to sit out the general election, which you will probably lose.

The loss of one RINO in the 2026 general election probably won’t tip the majority of the House or Senate.

I can target you and only you, or maybe another cowardly Republican too.

Be brave! With my veto power even loss of one or both houses of Congress will not prevent the laws a Republican Congress can pass from staying in effect to January 20th, 2029.

I need your help to make the USA a better place and you really stand no further risk in providing that help.

After many years of Democratic lawfare targeting me, I’m prepared to be ruthless, but as of now I’m simply asking you to do the right things for America because we both know what ought to be done. Let’s do the jobs the voters asked us to do.

The President

It’s sort of like having snipers behind the front lines to shoot deserters.

“These militia patrols were called the Home Guard in North Carolina, and they were used to round up deserters and either hang them or hand them over to the authorities for money”

disagree. The democrat party is in the process of total collapse.

They are going to be totally wiped out in 2026.

The result will be that Trump’s last two years will be even more radical than his first two years.

The future is bleak for most all nations. EU in recession, easy to see depression. The consolation prize? The US will most likely be effected the least( ie, recession while others are in depression).

The GOP could have 300+ seats in the House and 65+ seats in the Senate and they would still sit on their asses instead of helping Trump pass his agenda.

Seems to me if we reduce tariffs to 10% on China and they have a reciprocal 10% on the US while we have the same 10% on the rest of the world, China is no longer disadvantaged vs the rest of the world in exporting to us and nothing has changed to stem the flow of imports from China except American consumers pay 10% more for them.

Put down the crack pipe.

Are you too young to not understand the supernatural abilities the GOP has in losing?

I don’t disagree with your trail of tears. Nor do I think that the USA will ever return to whatever your ideal golden era. Certainly the USA in 1890 was very different from the USA of 1920 after 30 years of immigration from the statue of liberty crowd. Nor do I think that the USA will ever return to the USA of prior to change in the immigration laws of 1965—or even the america of 1987 prior to the great Reagan border compromise. I’ve recently heard the Trump administration float the idea of deporting 20 million. That won’t happen. It would be a miracle if they deported 10 million.

That said, supernatural losing has shifted to the side of the democrats.

Willing to put $$$ on it?

Think of all those 3 am ballot drops. The GOP never take it to court. Don’t even try.

Remember 1994? That majority was gone in 10 years after the Republicans went squishy again.

2020 will never be exposed.

I’m not getting your reference to 2020 except that the democrats thought the pubs stole that election and the uberleftists in the party thought that they had become squishy and a party that did not have the sand to steal elections like Kennedy did in 1960.

And yes everyone now knows that the dems have been stealing elections on many levels.

So the question this time is this:

Is this time different.

What’s different this time is that the people in charge are well aware of everything you say and understand that if they do not change things—Trump’s victory will be only temporary.

Does the Trump administration have the ways, means, motive and will to change the voting system.

I think so.

What’s more the democrats right now are doing everything they can to lose in 2026. That’s the place where they could stop Trump’s realignment cold. They’re not doing it.
