Just bake the $300 million into EV annual registration fees and an “infrastructure fee” when you buy the thing.
$100 up front when you buy the EV car and an add-on of $100 on your annual registration fee. Problem solved.

For those who think CA should have the funds, how about payment after proof when each new station is completed and working?

THAT IS THE $7.5 BILLION question.

7 Billion dollars, IIRC, and less than 5 charges installed. That’s a hell of a loss-leader!

Time to sue California for all the brown outs and black outs for greater strain on the grid.
Summer time in LA transformers sound like the 4th of July as it is.

In all seriousness, Alabama adds a higher “EV rate” when we do our annual registration (colloquially called “getting our car tag”). The idea is for EV owners to pay for road upkeep (since EV drivers don’t pay gas taxes). That fee could be increased to pay for fast roadside charging infrastructure.
Or another option is to add it to the charging rate at fast chargers.

Both are good options. Gruesome just wants the “free” money from Uncle Sugar so he can stiff people all over the country for CA chargers.

My take is California has their own gig going that is much larger the the FED subsidies. They are suing the Feds to get what they think they are entitled to. From what I’ve read the California subsidies are much larger...

Just claim it has all been spent already, for Ukraine. It may not be a lie.
