Now comes the amazing news from the brother that the new Pope is a genuine White Sox fan, as are all the kindly old school priests and sisters south of I-55, on into Indiana and Michigan. That’s a huge point in his favor and it appears he frequently voted in the Republican primaries in Illinois (that state does not have specific party registrations)….
Apparently, Pope Leo XIV has no hostility to the Latin Mass, while Pope Francis hated it. His public comments also indicate he has no interest in pushing the homosexual agenda or ordaining women. These are all things conservative Catholics care about and which the Pope controls.
On things he doesn’t control -- immigration, global warming, American politics, etc. -- I expect a lot of rhetoric to warm the cockles of the international media. That’s a compromise most Catholics can readily accept.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Even the Vatican cannot save the White Sox.
But at least they aren’t as bad as the Rockies.
I’m not, I’m a Cubs fan.🤨
After that, he can take back control of the Catholic Church in China from the commies.
he doesn’t give a sh#t about baseball.
He’s a communist plant that’s been groomed in South America to take the place of another communist bent on the destruction of the Roman Catholic Church.
He’ll mouth the “anti-abortion” BS but he’ll be all about “no borders”, open immigration, “tolerance of the wayward” sexual deviants, get rid of Catholic traditions so we can become “more inclusive” and “more modern”.
That’s why mass sounds like an audition for a musical and doesn’t have any semblance of honoring God but of honoring man.
They are going bankrupt hopefully and then we’ll see all the roaches come out.
Cubs in first.
Cards in second.
And Harry’s grandson is calling the Cards’ games.
Cubs fans may be having painful flashbacks.
The Cardinals are coming, trala, trala.
White Socks?
This guy probably hangs out with that other ‘Socks’ fan, homobama, down at Cominsky Field.
This guy probably hangs out with that other ‘Socks’ fan, homobama, down at Cominsky Field.
And goes to Packers games at Lambert Field.
And is a big fan of Mike McGwire and Sammy Sooser.
Good catch! No real Southsider would EVER say “Socks” - Quick way to smoke out an intruder - Go Go Sox!
Like the Football Cardinals, he left Chicago.
Best sign ever at a Sox game, when Cubs fans were jumping on the Sox bandwagon:
“Die, Yuppie Scum! Go back to Wrigley!”
In that case the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will welcome you! Leo is Augustinian, Luther before the reformation was an Augustinian monk. Come on in, the water is fine!
Sola Scriptura
Yes but God did send Bill Veeck to the White Sox. He was born in 1914, grew up in Hinsdale, and first owned the White Sox before my time - buying them in 1959 and leading them to a Pennant. He brought the exploding scoreboard to Comiskey. He sold his ownership interest in the White Sox in 1961 (He had health issues at that time. Many years later I wound up sitting near him in the center field bleachers at Wrigley where he was taking in a Cub game. He was in shorts, copping sunshine with his exposed prosthetic leg).
He came back to the White Sox as owner when I was a young kid, in I think 1975. He wasn't able to deliver a World Series, but he did give us a few incredible summers with 'rent a players' like Richie Zisk, and Oscar Gamble (the Gamble deal included sending a certain 'Bucky Dent' to the Yankees). The White Sox won 90 games in 1977, finishing 3rd. They would sometimes lose games despite scoring a ton of runs (I think they lost once 13-10 or something like that). It was a fun time as a kid, and I remember getting Chicago beef subs at McCuddy's on game days. Veeck was one of a kind, an I do think God sent him for all of us South Siders back in those days.
Anyway, although I also have been a Cub fan, I'm glad we got a Pope before them.
I HATE baseball.
Like reading War and Peace, in the sun, on ants and sand.
I remember when the Cubs won the WS, almost all of the sports channels said it was Chicago’s first WS win since 1918. They totally ignored 2005, they even commemorated the Bears and Blackhawks titles, and ignored the White Sox.
The Chicago Cubs’ 2016 World Series parade and rally drew an estimated 5 million fans, while the 2005 White Sox parade drew an estimated 1.2 million.
The Cubs-Cards rivalry is a good one! I only wish I could see it….
Who would have guessed that our new Pope is a registered Republican, even though a RINO at that.
