EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Migrant services nonprofits are resorting to donations and litigation as federal funding cuts force them to furlough workers and find alternative sources of funding.

The cuts come as the Trump administration prioritizes border security and deportations over asylum. The tactic has dramatically cut down on new arrivals at the Southwest border but leaves millions of people with cases pending in U.S. immigration court in need of legal assistance.

Screw them and their “legal assistance.” They should have brought their own “shyster lawyers” with them.

Quotes from the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees:

Article 31. - Refugees unlawfully in the country of refuge

1. The Contracting States shall not impose penalties, on account of their illegal entry or presence, on refugees who, coming directly from a territory where their life or freedom was threatened in the sense of article 1, enter or are present in their territory without authorization, provided they present themselves without delay to the authorities and show good cause for their illegal entry or presence.
2. The Contracting States shall not apply to the movements of such refugees restrictions other than those which are necessary and such restrictions shall only be applied until their status in the country is regularized or they obtain admission into another country. The Contracting States shall allow such refugees a reasonable period and all the necessary facilities to obtain admission into another country.

Article 32. - Expulsion

1. The Contracting States shall not expel a refugee lawfully in their territory save on grounds of national security or public order.
2. The expulsion of such a refugee shall be only in pursuance of a decision reached in accordance with due process of law. Except where compelling reasons of national security otherwise require, the refugee shall be allowed to submit evidence to clear himself, and to appeal to and be represented for the purpose before competent authority or a person or persons specially designated by the competent authority.
3. The Contracting States shall allow such a refugee a reasonable period within which to seek legal admission into another country. The Contracting States reserve the right to apply during that period such internal measures as they may deem necessary.

Article 23 - Public relief

The Contracting States shall accord to refugees lawfully staying in their territory the same treatment with respect to public relief and assistance as is accorded to their nationals.

Article 17 - Wage-earning employment
....
2. In any case, restrictive measures imposed on aliens or the employment of aliens for the protection of the national labour market shall not be applied to a refugee...who fulfils one of the following conditions:
(a) He has completed three years’ residence in the country;
....
(c) He has one or more children possessing the nationality of the country of residence.

Article 34 - Naturalization [and getting the right to vote (and buy AR-15s)]

The Contracting States shall as far as possible facilitate the assimilation and naturalization of refugees. They shall in particular make every effort to expedite naturalization proceedings and to reduce as far as possible the charges and costs of such proceedings.

Article 44 - Denunciation [getting out from under the Refugee Convention]
1. Any Contracting State may denounce this Convention at any time by a notification addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
2. Such denunciation shall take effect for the Contracting State concerned one year from the date upon which it is received by the Secretary-General of the United Nations....

****

What does Trump have to do to get the US out from under the Refugee Convention?

Send (or hand deliver) the Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres a letter!

****

Dear Secretary-General of the United Nations:

I, Donald J. Trump, the President of the United States, on behalf of the United States, do denounce the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol, as permitted by Article 44.

Donald J. Trump

****

The Refugee Convention, the invaders’ red carpet, must be removed from the Democratic Party toolbox by invoking Article 44.

Wetback nonprofits and federal funding should not even be in the same sentence. Why have the federal pigs been funding this travesty?

"10% to the Big Guy." There's probably more than one Big Guy, and more than one beak to wet.

And if a democrat gets declared the winner in the 2028 presidential election, it starts all over again.

“Why have the federal pigs been funding this travesty?”

vote-buying Democrats

‘cheap labor’ Republicans

The slaughterhouses like refugees because they often speak obscure languages and therefore have very limited employment options.

How many of you speak Burmese?

The El Paso-based organization, which provides legal representation and “Know your rights” presentations to migrants in court, furloughed 30 workers.

30 leftists must join the real economy. A bunch of illegals just learned to lead a very quiet life if they have any hope to stay here illegally. Nose to the grindstone, no government benefits, no criminal activity, rely on friends and family. Uh, sounds like lessons for the natives as well.

--- "Migrant services nonprofits"

Curious about a specific non-profit?

Use any search engine and type "Form 990" after the official non-profit name. ProPublica and others can show the most recently available forms -- as required by law.

Especially look to the "other salaries" and related "expenses" to see just how these tax-exempt entities operate. Most generally they pay themselves VERY WELL indeed.

It is through these that USAID and other Democrat-run bureaucrats funneled large sums of money.

All being done to fund every Democrat reprobate evil thought they have continuously while at the same time empowering its money laundering operation without limit, then having a tertiary benefit of bankrupting the USA and its dollar supremacy.

There is no reason to ‘build back better’ as ordered by their WEF masters if we already have a valid working system in place. It has to be broken first. Their CV19 plans failed.

They were aggressively buying off and paying off everyone while funding endless NGOs to flood all Western nations with outside invaders to create chaos and uncertainty. Burn it all down with the bookkeeping receipts inside.

This was and continues to be an attempted Communist Marxist (CIA Color Revolution) overthrow of America. Started with John Brennan and Victoria Nuland and Samantha Power and others, all Obama sycophants calling the shots.

If these evil traitors are not locked up, they will be back to try again and even more empowered and will work harder and faster.

Yet, plenty of cash for litigation.

Thanks for posting that for those who think treaties are a small matter. This is how the UN gets its claws into our legal system.

I am shocked. I would think all these left wing lawyers would want to help oppressed POC pro bono. Now it seems like this was a big money making operation like every other social justice scheme the left is involved in.

Yep, we were/are scammed while financing our being ripped off. Hence all the screaming and tears over DOGE with the mass media leading the charge for their masters.

I await the coming commercials in the framework of those for Russian Jews, starving animals and such while soft mariachi music plays in the background:

"For ninety cents a day you, too, can help kindly cartels transport needy women and children here who just want to do the jobs you're to lazy to do. Just dial 1-800-GUL-LIBL or scan the code on your screen so you can make a difference."

Also much of the screaming are supposed conservatives. Recall John Kelly complaining about President Trump, then we later discover hes running an NGO getting hundreds of millions of USAID dollars to flood the USA with military aged invaders.

Maybe Cass Sunstein and family could sell their home and belongings and give the proceeds to the weary travelers they care so much about when writing USAID checks.
