What?
Big tech vs. Big media. No one to cheer for in this game.
> requiring tech companies to compensate publishers for profiting off of their locally generated content <
If a publisher doesn’t want Google, etc. to “steal” their content, just put that content behind a pay wall.
Simple, eh?
This falls under the ICC. Oregon has no right to control interstate commerce. Thats exactly what’s going on.
Used to be the richest guy in town owned the local newspaper. Got rich by selling advertising. Our local paper only prints three days a week. Half of the ad space is devoted to selling ad space in the paper. Today’s ‘Sunday paper’ (delivered on Saturday) is thinner that what a weekday paper was a decade ago.
He’s dead, Jim
So, I guess Oregon is where they send the leftists who are too looney for California.
It’s a great idea. This way, Oregon will have no industries of any kind in the state and it will evolve into the 96,000 square mile state park they want.
Sounds like Marxist theft.
I’m pretty sure no news org based in OR is going to get a dime from anyone.
They are reporters who cover climate, racism, the socialist agenda, immigration, etc.
They beat The Drum every day for Hard Left political issues, but they get paid by external non-profit political organizations.
I assume this same plan is in effect for dozens of other urban areas with slowly dying newspapers.
CA, NY, and IL are already funneling taxpayer money to the enemedia...
just wall-off all references to oregon media by search engines and such and problem is solved for free ... oregon media can then proceed to die even faster than before ...
If you would like more information about what’s happening in Oregon, please FReepmail me. Please send me your name by FReepmail if you want to be on this list.
This reminds me of a policy called National Socialism.
A financial lifeline all-right for Oregon it sounds like it’s tanking fast.
It’s how socialism works first your money goes then your clothes.
Next they’ll be panhandling with hub caps just to hear the change dropping.
No, this person is clearly a moron. Once something is published in a paper it obviously enters the public domain and can be used in any manner a person chooses.
Any company that wants to avoid these punitive confiscations should move to Missouri.
Never know they might do so.
Oregon will continue to suck until we have honest elections.
