A beautiful 22-year-old college student was fatally shot inside of a Columbia, South Carolina, rental home on Saturday night by a career criminal who was “on a spree of thefts, break-ins and credit card fraud,” the Columbia Police Department said.
Logan Federico, a college student from Waxhaw, North Carolina, was spending the weekend at a rental home with friends in South Carolina when she was senselessly murdered by a career criminal.
After stealing firearms and credit cards from a nearby home, 30-year-old Alexander Dickey broke into the Columbia rental home early Saturday morning, entered Logan Federico’s room and fatally shot her.
Dickey fled the scene in a stolen vehicle and allegedly used stolen credit cards taken from the nearby home.
Police pursued Dickey after he fled into the woods. He reportedly broke into another home and set it on fire before police took him into custody after a standoff in Gaston.
Dickey was charged with murder, two counts of first-degree burglary, weapons possession and larceny.
Alexander Dickey is a convicted felon with a lengthy criminal rap sheet.
ABC News reported:
The body of a young woman was discovered inside a rented house in Columbia, South Carolina, over the weekend, according to a press conference held by Columbia Police Department on Monday.
She was later identified as Logan Federico, a 22-year-old from Waxhaw, North Carolina, police said. Her cause of death was a fatal gunshot wound to the chest, according to Columbia Coroner Naida Rutherford.
The college student was spending the weekend with friends in a rented house in South Carolina when she was “randomly murdered by a career criminal” who was “on a spree of thefts, break-ins and credit card fraud,” the CPD said.
When law enforcement closed in, Dickey fled into nearby woods, leading to a manhunt in severe weather conditions, police said. He later broke into another home and set it on fire, they added.
Officers were able to extract Dickey through a window and take him into custody, the CPD said.
Logan Federico’s distraught father, Steve Federico, fought through tears as he spoke during a press conference on Monday.
“I am Logan Haley Federico’s father, better known as ‘Dad,’ or her hero. Unfortunately, that day, I could not be her hero,” Steve Federico said. “My daughter, I cherished. She was a strong, fun-loving individual who did what she wanted to do and was spicy.”
“My daughter was working hard at school, working two jobs, to become a teacher. She loved and adored kids — children of all ages,” the father said. “The message I wanted to send to Dickey, who took my daughter’s life — this is from her: ‘You can’t kill my spirit. You might be able to kill my body, but you cannot kill my love that my family and friends shared with me.'”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
No need to look. You already know the ethnicity of the victim and the perp!
Perp shouldn’t have ever made it out of those woods.
BUT, we have laws making it illegal for felons to have guns.
As opposed the the more common ‘sensible’ murders everyday? But, bbc.......
Man, this one hits close to home. I can’t imagine getting involved in something like that, but if I were in Columbia, I would be packing.
The <.heavy sarchasm* quote>"justice"</heavy sarchasm quote> system failed her, her family and the fine people of South Carolina.
If the courts keep failing to provide justice, the people will be forced to fill the vacuum.
This won't be good.
*sarchasm the gulf between sarcasm and its intended recipient
When? OH! WHEN?
Will there harsh blowback be imposed on Judges and other “officials” who let career criminals with long rap sheets out of prison?
AGREED!
Perp shouldn’t have made it out of the burning house.
Yep.
Is the GiveSendGo account up yet to pay for the self-defense lawyers? Bring out that Minister!!!
How terrible!
My husband attended “Bible College” (what he always called it) in Columbia, South Carolina, CIU, Columbia International University.
He had four college degrees, including one in a hard science - always said the seminary degree was the most difficult.
I hope for justice in this case and for solace to the grieving family.
Don’t hold your breath when the perps are of a protected class.
Nothing like a “career criminal” should be possible: the perp should have already been hanged.
Another case of white supremacy.
**********
Looking back thru history of the USA white supremacy had
a lot to do with where we are today. jmo
It is well past the time for the US to have an open and frank dialogue about Black violence and criminality, and to develop harsh measures to combat it.
