The Trump administration has started paying illegal migrants to $1,000 each to “self-deport” from the US, and the Department of Homeland Security said it will save taxpayers up to $1 million per family.
Immigrants can avoid arrest by federal immigration agents if they choose to use the Trump administration’s CBP Home app. The DHS will pay for commercial flights out of the US, and then send cash once they confirm they’ve left.
Despite shelling out the cash, DHS projects that taxpayers will save 70% over the cost of rounding up and deporting each illegal migrant.
It costs taxpayers an average of $17,121 for the feds to arrest, detain and deport a single illegal immigrant, according to DHS.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
And send the bill to the Democrats and the media.
derp
Send the bill to their home countries.
I approve of this due process.
This is how I used to handle bad tenants... way faster and cheaper than eviction.
Just pay them to go away.
I have been posting this here for over a month. I thiunk it is the best way to go. And the courts cant stop them being rounded up this way.
On the one hand, we shouldn’t be paying ANYTHING, but on the other hand, the sooner we deport illegals, the less we WILL be paying for their presence here, which when all costs are added up, is likely over $1 trillion dollars every single year. Paying them $1000 is a drop in the bucket compared to what we ARE paying as a result of them being here.
Spend a few billion now, or even a few hundred billion now, and the savings from that point forward will be tremendous! A great savings on investment.
How about determining each illegal’s country of origin and levying a $100,000 tariff per illegal against the country of origin?
It’s good as long as the “newcomer” is prevented from sneaking back in so he can collect another $1,000.
Only if combined with an automatic death penalty for illegally reentering this country.
If I were an illegal, then I would simply take the $1,000 and then reenter and then take it again and again and again

17k? Government efficiency right there. /s
Totally agree, and of course they waive their right to any due process if they are caught here again, we throw them out on their ars.

If caught again they waive any right to being a citizen of the USA ever.
I did this with a free loading cousin who overstayed her welcome. Moved into my house on a supposedly temporary basis while she got set up in my state. Months go by and she’s got no job & never leaves the house. after 3 months I put my foot down said she had to be out in 30 days, I’d pay her way for her to move back to the state she came from and her kids that she used to live with. I paid for an oil change on her car and gave her a $500 gift card to pay for drive back. All said it was $600 well spent.
Except El Salvador and Argentina....they get a pass.
Nice!

Yep, this looks like it could be easily abused. It gives one the sense that we are being extorted to get rid of people who shouldn’t be here. It seems far better to warn people who are here illegally, then (if they haven’t self-moved) treat them to an extremely cheap and rude road trip to their home country. Their next illegal trip to the US (should they be stupid enough to try it) should be to a modern day version of a labor camp.
Bottom line: people have to be legitimately afraid of entering and staying illegally. Until that is the widespread sentiment, nothing else will matter.
