Trump Reveals His Red Line in Ukraine Peace Push

US President Donald Trump said that the United States may one day decide to withdraw from the process of negotiations on the settlement of the Ukraine conflict.

"Well, there will be time, when I will say: okay, keep going, keep being stupid, keep fighting ... There will be time when I may say that," Trump said in an interview for the NBC News broadcaster out on Sunday.

The US leader noted that sometimes he is close to making such a decision, but then "positive things happen."

On Friday, State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said the US was not ready yet to exit efforts to reach peace in Ukraine, but would no longer act as a mediator if no progress is made.

Trump said that there is a "very good chance" to reach peace deal between Russia and Ukraine.

"I think we have a very good chance of doing it," Trump said in an interview for the NBC News broadcaster out on Sunday.

At the same time, there is a possibility that the United States will not be able to settle the conflict due to "tremendous hatred," which he sees between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine.

The US president also said that Washington had reached significant progress in talks with one of the sides to the conflict.

"I do believe we are closer with one party and maybe not as close with the other," Trump said. He did not clarify with which side the US had made better progress.

Trump has already resigned from any peace talks. His Arms for Minerals deal with the Ukes has made it clear the US is now on board with them in their war against Russia.

Which is a mistake.

The Ukrainians did not make war on Russia.

Russia made war on them.

Russia was pushed into war by Obama/Biden policies and NATO.

Absolute fact. The MIC got to him... They have assimilated him... I’m starting to sour... The NWO/MIC/CIA are absolutely the great threats to our Nation and they still retain full control even over Trump. If we cannot get control back from BlackRock and the NWO/MIC everything else is futile.

STFU

So what happened in Ukraine?

https://ggis.illinois.edu/news/2018-04-09t152503/war-ukraine-more-devastating-you-know

In 2014, Ukraine was divided between those who wanted to affiliate with Russia and those who leaned toward Europe and NATO. In Kiev, in what was called the Maidan Revolution, the pro-Europe faction overthrew the kleptocratic and Russian-leaning Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

In November 2013, a wave of large-scale protests known as “Euromaidan” began in response to President Yanukovych’s decision not to sign a political association and free trade agreement with the European Union (EU), instead choosing closer ties to Russia.

Here’s the thing. The minerals we want are in Russian occupied territory.

If Russia would go to war over overt US/NATO aggression, why would anyone think they would not go to war with the US over our attempts to steal their rare earth minerals?

Not necessarily

President Trump is doing the right things under the worst possible circumstances.

He is making progress and he really holds all the cards.

Russia was genocidally mass murdering its neighbors long before NATO even existed. Putin himself was meddling in Ukraine from the moment he occupied the Kremlin 25 years ago. Long before your Obama/Biden fairy tale ever was written by Kremlin Bolsheviks and their useful fools.

Mistake is an understatement.

Anyone suggesting that POTUS can play the hypocritical role as peacemaker while supporting ukeland with arms needs to have their head examined.

I have great difficulty wrapping my head around the logic behind these decisions. It’s almost as if it’s under duress (e.g., coercion). I find it hard to believe that he’s been played.

There is no minerals deal if the Ukraine Parliament doesn’t approve it this week, and there’s no minerals deal if there is no peace agreement.

Yeah, I tend to think the pushback is strong against Trump by conservatives. MTG has really been on a tear, but when is she not?

And there will be no peace as Zelensky is still set on his original demands that US and EU “peacekeeping forces: be sent to Ukraine.

I’m hoping this whole Arms for Minerals debacle just goes away.

Perplexity says about 47% of Ukraine’s minerals are outside Russian occupied territory. About 60% of their rare earth minerals are. Only about 20% of their coal is.

"MTG has really been on a tear, but when is she not?"

True. She was way over the moon about McCarthy being Speaker. She needs to shut up and just do her job. She's getting to sound like Anne Coulter.

Just an FYI, there are apparently 3 sets of documents to the minerals deal. Only 1 has been made public, and the Ukraine parliament is going to proceed without seeing the other two.

It’s not rumor. The public document refers to them in several places and we haven’t seen that text, as best I know.
