President Donald Trump said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that the tariffs would make the United States a rich nation.
Trump said, “The tariffs are going to make us rich. We’ll be a very rich country.”
Host Kristen Welker said, “At your cabinet meeting, you said, ‘Maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls would cost a couple of bucks more than you would normally.’ Are you saying that the tariffs will cause some prices to go up?”
Trump said, “No, I think the tariffs will be great for us because it will make us rich.”
Welker said, “You said some dolls will cost more. Isn’t that an acknowledgment will make prices to go up?”

Not only do they make junk, the Red Chinese don’t even have enough respect for the American consumer to hire an English speaking person to write the assembly instructions for their flimsy junk.
And America has been very stupid to rely on China for so much of our medicine and medical supplies.
I have heard nothing on what we’re going to do about that.
Patience, Grasshoppers.
C’mon, really? Its a perfectly legitimate question.
Who’s “us” - the government?
Yeah, it’s all junk, like iphones, laptops, Gucci shirts and bags, 90% of the stuff you gladly buy at walmart, etc, etc, etc.
If all they make is junk and we buy the junk, what does that say about us?
a lot of the imported merchandize from Communist China is not junk like it was years ago. Having said that, we definitely need a better trade balance with CCP, much better in fact, and tariffs are the most obvious way to negotiate this. I support what I believe President Trump is trying to do.
How about start cutting checks to every American citizen whose owed all those tax dollars DOGE has recovered. Let’s start there shall we?
We’re $37T in debt, and its growing by trillions each year. The last thing we should be doing is cutting more checks.
As per my proposal:
The Secretary of Commerce may by regulation provide tariff exemptions up to the following amounts:
1. $100 on a laptop or personal computer
2. $60 on a smartphone
3. 10 cents per square inch of LCD screen
4. $45 per hard disk drive
5. $1 per first GB of solid-state memory and 20 cents for each additional GB
6. $5 on a shirt, blouse or dress
7. $4 on a pair of pants or skirt
8. $1 on an undergarment
9. $15 on a suit
10. 10 cents per inch of sewing, up to $2 on shoes and any other garment including dolls clothing

NOTE: It may be better to tax transfers of American money to foreign countries at 10% than having a base tariff of 10%.
Thank you for sharing
China and the USA economic and governance systems are fundamentally incompatible. At some level, everyone (even Democrats) recognizes that the long-term trends of simply continuing the present system are harmful to the USA.
The only way to fix it is to not play the game with the CCP.
Trump is the first politician to actually try to change it.
We will do fine with fewer lead-tainted, hormone-disrupting plastic Chinese toys from the dollar store flooding our landfills when they break after a few plays.
We have become addicted to Chinese garbage that funds our enemies.
From my proposal:
[national security stuff]
The total tariff shall be:
1. 25%, on aircraft grade aluminum alloys and automotive grade ferrous metal,
2. on national security products [we could and should make],
a. initially 0%, and then increasing by 2% at the start of every IRS quarter month after 2025 to 20%, on
I. industrial level components,
II. any drug for lawful retail sale & consumer use,
III. drug, chemical and plastic industrial inputs, other than refinery hydrocarbons and those for making fertilizer,
VI. semiconductors,
V. solar cells and panels,
VI. basic rare earth element products other than ore,
[raw material exemptions]
3. 0%, on
a. other raw materials, including coffee beans, fertilizers and their precursors,
base metals, electricity, raw & refined hydrocarbon products,
when vended without resale or short leash supply restriction,
b. foodstuffs, when sourced from a country for which the Secretary of Agriculture justly holds in good standing
for lack of undue impediment on import of US agricultural products generally vendable in the USA,
[playing field leveling for US export manufacturers]
4. tariffs paid on section 1 and 2 imports, except from China,
may creditable on a one-to-one basis after bona fide export of manufactured products containing them
via any optional scheme the Secretary of Commerce may allow a bona fide manufacturing exporter to participate in.
Growing by trillions each year? But tariffs are gonna make us rich. So you think the grifting of the American people should continue then? Got it
Tariffs don’t make us rich. At most, and this means a lot, they protect us from foreign unfair trade practices.
My main complaint is this;
The federal government used to be fully funded by tariffs and excise taxes. They then amended the constitution to allow for income taxes. Original framers were smart guys they knew income taxes are bad for us.
Now we find we have both high income taxes and high tariffs!
Repeal the 16th and 17th amendments, and then and only then will America be great again.
The commie media will ALWAYS love China because China created a bioweapon that gave them POWER..always remember that, that is why the left adores China and thanks them everyday for creating covid, it gave them power and the first thing that the commies did when covid arrived, they passed a bill allowing for mail in voting, that was their #1 priority so of course they knew, they knew all along
