WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced that the Department terminated seven woke university grants totaling $54 million. These grants were used to advance a radical DEI and green agenda that were both wasteful and ran counter to the transportation priorities of the American people

San Jose State University - Mineta Consortium for Emerging, Efficient, and Safe Transportation About $6M for research on “intermodal inequities, particularly how improvements to auto travel can benefit higher income, often white drivers, while depressing transit ridership potential and depriving it of revenues necessary to provide comprehensive services to lower income, often BIPOC people and research into using crowdsourcing and collaborative planning to address safety concerns of women and gender non-conforming people using public transportation.”
Strikes me how convoluted our whole government is when the Transportation Secretary is cutting off federal grants to universities.
Seems to me that the Department of Education should be the focal point of all such grants, and if defunding is in order, the Ed Sec should be pulling the plug.
Every gummint agency hands out free money. It’s like being on a parade float, who would not want toss candy to the crowd?
The money launderers had to spread it all around in all departments harder to keep track of & less chance some patriot sniffs it out and blows the whistle.
The grants came from the Department of Transportation
WTF does it matter?
The hogs were visiting every trough in town.
First glance, headline appeared to say “Duffy DEFENDS Woke University Grants.”
Good to see these being DEFUNDED.
Right, and DOE was directing policy that should have been HHS
I misread it the same way at first glance.
I have not read anything about DOGE at the FRA (Federal Railroad administration) many years ago I heard someone say, sort of jokingly, that its primary job was to give out money. I just checked its website and sure enough, look what it says.
“ FRA also promotes the development of the freight, passenger, and commuter rail network through grant programs, which have seen historic levels of funding under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Visit our Newsroom for recent announcements of grant awards and opportunities to apply for funding”
Fortunately, no applications are currently being accepted for discretionary grants. There were several other categories so I don’t know about them.
After reading that description, not only should it be defunded, but whoever is/was involved in the “Mineta Consortium for Emerging, Efficient, and Safe Transportation” should never again be given a govt grant for ANY reason. Full on Persona non Grata status.
Since they cannot answer the question "What Is A Woman?" How is planning for their safety any different from any other entity?
C'mon, Man!
Not really that convoluted.
In theory;
Different agencies need some research help, some study to be performed.
So they look for Universities and give them grants to do the research.
So do private companies. Our company used to fund research projects, we had no resources to do ourselves.
Sometimes, a very useful results come out of University research.
Unfortunately, lots of those grants are just giveaways to help fellow travelers.
Or a lot of these research studies are useless at the best.
In many cases, they perform very WOKE research. Ever wonder who financed those stupid studies?
So Duffy is canceling all those studies.
I would think, they keep financing some other studies, which they found useful.
Not everybody in Academia is stupid lefty. Some professors are very clever, and actually cheap, mostly by using graduate students to do most of the real work!
About $6M for research on “intermodal inequities, particularly how improvements to auto travel can benefit higher income, often white drivers,
White drivers often have licenses, insurance, obeying traffic laws, they deserve the benefits
The Department of Education should be the focal point of grants to universities?
You want a bunch of Dr. Jills who have education degrees giving grants to universities? and the Secretary of Education deciding which ones should be stopped? LOL That may be worse than Transportation administering the grants.
I’m actually on the same page. My point was just that I wish all the money came from a single checkbook, because that would make it easier to stop the entire flow. But if money is derived from a wide variety of non-obvious sources, then it becomes harder to find all the spigots and turn them off one by one.
Great job, Sean Duffy.
Sean P. Duffy, sounds like a rapper.
