(WHTM) — A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty to defrauding the United States Government of over $1 million in SNAP and Medicare benefits.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, James Sessoms, 60, of Philadelphia, pled guilty today to one count of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) fraud, seven counts of false statements in connection with health care benefits, and seven counts of Social Security fraud.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that in October of 2024, Sessoms was charged by indictment with those offenses after he used stolen identities and Social Security numbers (SSNs) to file for SNAP and Medicaid benefits. The Office says Sessoms sold the fraudulently acquired SNAP cards for profit at a local supermarket, stealing $1,063,633 in total benefits.
The Office says Sessoms obtained or created the names, SSNs, and personally identifiable information for several fictitious persons, and obtained the names and personally identifiable information of other persons, including valid SSNs, which he placed on the applications for SNAP and Medical benefits, which were submitted to PA DHS under penalty of perjury.

Ask him about election fraud. He may be tied into that as well.
Oh, SNAP!!
Small potatoes. Quoting a post from patriots.win, “No one seems to be getting arrested over the corruption that Elon has uncovered. Why not?”
Thanks D.O.G.E. Thanks Elon.
I built a system 18 years ago that used looking at assets via public records to figure out that people might be obtaining benefits by fraud. It worked too well and I got fired.
Back then someone could use real or bogus SS numbers to obtain multiple benefits in multiple states and the government could not catch it because they would not simply take just the SS number out of every states system and compare them for duplicates or fake numbers. It still may work the same today. If it does doing the analysis would basically cost nothing more than the cost of each states system dumping just the numbers.
Another big area of fraud is the 501’s, it’s huge and Trump and Musk know it.
I wouldn’t doubt it about the election fraud. These arrests trickle in when I’m sure there are thousands more to be arrested.
How many of those fictitious persons VOTED?
This is just a tip of the iceberg. I would guess that over 70% of Philadelphia democrats are on welfare of some type and cheating the system. It’s what they do. It’s who they are.
When the USA collapses, these cannibals will turn on each other and die within a month. One silver lining in the demise of the republic.

What??? Election fraud??!! Filthedelphia area???
Everyone KNOWS there has NEVER been a case of proven election fraud!!
Sheesh, what a rookie comment!!!!!!! /s
“”” Sessoms was charged by indictment with those offenses after he used stolen identities and Social Security numbers (SSNs) to file for SNAP and Medicaid benefits.”””
It sure looks like this crime was very easy to commit.
So how many other people have used the same tactics to steal from the government?????????????????????
FINALLY,! The word “PLED” instead of that stupid “ pleaded”. Pleated is for dress slacks!!
I had a very large grocery bill once when I bought groceries for us and my son’s family. I half jokingly asked the checkout lady if my bill was a store record. “Nope”, she said. She had seen a bill 30 to 40% larger than mine and it was all paid for with food stamps.
The entire "money" machine in all its forms seems a massively leaky system, with fraudulent diversions and outright theft by the many, to include politicians. Until the leaky spigot is well and permanently turned off, this will be the theme of news for the foreseeable future.
No pic of perp?
lol
Yeah I looked too, briefly
Got socials good enough for the PA social security system?
Got socials good enough for IRS forms to add children, and get EIC, CTC and ACTC.
There may be a replacement for socials when this is done.
“”The Office says Sessoms sold the fraudulently acquired SNAP cards for profit at a local supermarket, stealing $1,063,633 in total benefits.””
If he SOLD the cards, who got the benefits?
He should have been a politician...
Finally, but amongst the entire legal profession, which includes some incredibly intelligent, well-educated, literate writers, this seems not to have been a problem and they used pleaded as in pleadings and not pled.
But I am one of those folks who decries the intentional driving of the subjunctive out of the English language. The only folks who use it any more are from the ghetto. That is because it is a grammatical form wired into our brains and it takes publik skool to wire it back out again.
