Speaker Mike Johnson Backs Trump on Tariffs
Breitbart ^ | 04/30/2025 | Hannah Knudsen

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) backs President Donald Trump on tariffs, he made clear during an appearance at an Axios News Shapers event this week.

Trump has the backing of Johnson, who said according to Axios that the tariffs “are working.”

“I think the executive has a broad array of authority that’s been recognized over the years,” Johnson said. “If it gets close to where the imbalance is there, then we would step in.”

However, if it came to that, Johnson said the first line of defense would be calling Trump directly.

“But I think the first protocol, to be very frank, is I would call the president and talk with him,” the Speaker stated.

How about a bill that says, The President of the United States, in his sole discretion, can deport any non citizen that he or his administration, under his sole direction, determines to have entered the country illegally over the last 5 years.

If a Republican house and Senate cannot pass that they are absolutely despicable. Give these puke judges absolutely no leg to stand on.

So does this mean that Rand Paul can rave and rant in the Senate but his tariff bill would go no where should it make it to the House?

I’m really disappointed in Paul. For years he has made a name for himself and received tons of publicity regarding wasteful spending but when a President is elected to do something about it, he suddenly gets cold feet.

Paul should be Trump’s loudest supporter. Instead, he picks the tariff issue and proceeds to work against Trump’s policies. That is although he has never said a word, that I can recall, against previous Presidents implementing tariffs against other countries.

There’s nothing beautiful about the obscene size of that spending and borrowing bill!

Paul voted for Biden’s wasteful spending bills.
Occam’s Razor suggests the simplest explanation for a phenomenon is usually the best, meaning using the least complex explanation possible.
On this basis Rand Paul is gaslighting the public to get donations & stay in office. He is no budget hawk; he just plays one for sound bites and gives no consideration for the downstream effects of his posturing.

It’s massive, with room for trillions and trillions more debt. Over a trillion for the DoD. Etc. Etc.

BINGO. Get the bolls passed. Tax cuts passed. Regulations eliminated. Legislate to make executive orders law. Defund and eliminate the rogue judiciary and sign it in to law. Have the whip ruthlessly hammer show-boaters in the GOP.

I may suffer from terminal optimism and trust of President Trump...
Johnson & Thune have said that they need working room and that the $ included will in many cases be clawed back. It is impossible to bring back America without spending money.

The betting is that the decrease in regulatory burden, the investment in America from tariff pressure and economic incentives, the money collected from tariff, the job creation, the investment in energy, the decrease in taxes which has in the past raised tax revenue, the elimination of many illegal aliens and the costs associated with hosting them will change the economic picture and allow a balanced budget and fund repayment of the National debt.

You either believe in the viability of that plan or you resign America to the dustheap of history because taxing more & spending less will not succeed in changing the calculus. Many many years of that talk has shown it’s toothlessness.

The money being spend to reset America is an investment. Since we are at the point of no return where there is no other path forward I am 100% behind President Trump’s agenda. In 4-5 years we will know if we bought a poor quality pig in a poke or saved America.

I’m completely behind Trump’s plans.

I don’t trust Congress as far as I could throw a committee of them.
