The post office did issue a very nice sheet of stamps, Battlefields of the American Revolution.

I tried to buy them at the Lexington post office and the clerk said they sold out in a hurry. Turns out each post office was issued only 100 sheets, including Lexington and Concord, Mass! The neighboring towns had plenty. With a kiosk, they could have sold thousands, pure revenue (minus cost) for stamps that would never be redeemed.
