Canadiens voting for the same oligarch masters; just like much of Europe.
He won with a minority—whether a strong minority or weak minority remains to be seen because there are still 18 uncalled seats.
Probably about the best result that could be hoped for given the circumstances—Carney will have a hard time getting much of the more radical stuff done, and likely will have to call another election within 8-24 months.
Thinking that this goof winning instead would make any difference is just a cope.

I would not be surprised to see Canada join the EU. Instead of being the welfare state of the US, they can suck on some other teat.
“ Carney wins, Canada will face a serious constitutional crisis ”
Canada doesn’t have a written Constitution. It’s like the UK that way.
Canada’s dissolution now seems likely. Some provinces will become new US states, others will become quasi-independent territories affiliated with the US, while others may attempt to become nation states on their own.
from Mark Steyn i gather Poilievre was a squish - no firebrand and rather spineless. i worry that Canadians are used to being led around - and not up to being the 51st state. perhaps Alberta will disengage: now that would be interesting.
That's what people said decades ago -- the 1970s or 1980s, I forget which -- when Quebec held a vote on whether to secede from Canada.
The Conservative guy went against Trump. Not a good move on his part. No wonder he lost.
I see a very real chance of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan seceding and becoming states. If Alberta alone leaves it will be devastating - and they have every reason to considering they’re oil rich, have essentially been Canada’s cash cow and would be much much richer as a state, AND now Carney determined to sacrifice their economy to Gaia.
Quebec would have been leaving over cultural/linguistic issues. Alberta has every economic incentive to get out from under Ottawa's thumb. As a state they would keep far more of their own money AND Gaia worshipers are not nearly as strong in the US as in Canada ergo the economic sabotage of their oil industry would be far less than it is now. If they wanted to adopt a socialized medicine scheme for their state, they'd be free to do so. They'd even get their gun rights back and the curbs on their freedom of speech would be lifted.
Wow. Quite the list. seems like they are figuring out how the left really works.
Re: 10 - no Province will leave Confederation.
The other Provinces would have to agree to another leaving. I don’t see that happening.

Lots of benefits to Alberta, but what are the benefits to America? Especially considering they’d be a blue state. Might be better if Alberta goes completely independant.
WTF?!
LMAO. It’s Justine Trudeau all over again.
1) Alberta would definitely be a red state - look at their voting pattern. 2) They'd be very oil rich - even moreso than Texas or Alaska or North Dakota, etc
IMO their dissolution is best, there are parts of Cananda (liberal) the US should treat like Mexico, let the liberals die under their ideology, do not let them into the US.
The conservative portions we should scoop up and fence of from the rest of Canda, then watch as those liberal cities no longer have any resources to feed and run their dystopian society.
