Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) signed legislation into law on Monday that would block males identifying as females from competing in girls’ and women’s sports at public schools and colleges in the Peach State.
The Riley Gaines Act, which will take effect on July 1, requires that student athletes from kindergarten through college compete according to their biological sex, not what they may identify as. The law further requires the state to provide separate locker rooms and changing facilities for male and female athletes.
“It will establish clearly in Georgia law that males are not allowed to compete in female sports in the state of Georgia,” said Forsyth County Republican State Senator Greg Dolezal, who sponsored the measure. “This bill recognizes that when you allow males to participate in female sports, it ceases to become female sport.”
Riley Gaines, for whom the legislation is named, has emerged as the leading voice among female athletes seeking to prevent trans inclusion in girls’ and women’s sports. In March of 2022, Gaines, a former collegiate swimmer at the University of Kentucky, tied transgender swimmer Lia Thomas at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. Despite the tie, the championship was given to Thomas.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Bravo!
Note “legislation” NOT Executive Orders.
Unless Congress gets its act together and enshrines all of Trump’s EOs in LAW, all of Trump’s EOs will be undone on Day 1 of the next Democrat regime.
Really?
Georgia has got an American Governor. Awesome. I wish he could find out where Abrams has our $2.5 billion hidden.
Can we give credit where credit is due?
I know Kemp is widely disliked here on Free Republic. I don’t know why because I don’t know details of Georgia politics. But whatever the case, let’s give proper recognition if someone does something we all approve of.
“Kemp? Really?”
He’s not as bad as people on our side claimed he was - he was in a really difficult situation at the end of 2020, trying to keep 2 Senate candidates viable in runoffs and that after they took out his future son-in-law.
Finally Kemp did the right thing. There must have been no other options.
I suspect he was getting calls from members of both parties insisting that he sign the bill into law. UGA Dawg supporters (and their dollars) hold a lot of sway over the Gold Dome in Atlanta. Former governor Sonny Perdue is the Chancellor of the University Systems of Georgia.
In other words, how do you legislate common sense?
The 2020 presidential election was stolen right under his nose—or with his active co-operation.
Take your pick.
Some of us will never forget and of course never trust him.

There is zero chance a Democrat governor would ever allow that to happen to a Democrat presidential candidate in their state.
The two senate candidate would not have been in runoffs if Kemp had done his job.
>>Kemp?
>>Really?
He’s intending to run for U.S. Senator; he and Raffensperger handed both Senate seats to the Rats in the last election to clear out the GOP competition.
Running for US Senate in 2026.
Georgia elected Republicans tend to be very RINOish, particularly the Governors. However we have a very conservative LT GOV, Burt Jones who is going to run in 26 and may be a breath of fresh air.
Ban them from girls’ sports.
But, give them a different designation, like “FM” and organize a sports division for them. “Formerly Male” sports organizations might be attractive to those FMs, and would perhaps leave the girls’ and women’s sport alone.
They can even adopt a fitting song for their sports, like “I Feel Like A Woman”, by Shania Twain. ;)
No, dont encourage this illness one single bit.
The immediate past Lt. Governor, Geoff Jones, is a NeverTrumper fool, however.
That is ONE “Atta BOY.” For Kemp.
it takes TEN “Atta BOYs”
To Correct ONE “Dumb SH!7,”
Kemp is way behind being even.
I've been waiting for a college team to field a cross dressing male pitcher. If he was anything like the pitchers I faced, there's not a chance that any team would beat them and they could easily win a national championship.
With that being said, I truly believe that women's college softball has too much integrity to allow a male to play on any team.
