Russia claims it has regained full control of Kursk from Ukraine

Russia's military says it has regained full control of the country's western Kursk region - a claim denied by Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces have been in retreat in Kursk in recent months, facing 70,000 Russian troops and heavy drone attacks as part of Russia's drive to regain the territory.

In its latest report on 25 April, the US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) think-tank said: "Russian forces recently advanced near the international border in Kursk Oblast [region] as part of efforts to push Ukrainian forces from their limited remaining positions in the area."

The ISW also reported that "fighting continued in [Russia's] north-western Belgorod Oblast [region] on 25 April".

During a video conference meeting with Putin on Saturday, Gerasimov said: "Today, the last settlement in the Kursk region, the village of Gornal, has been liberated from Ukrainian forces."

Gerasimov said more than 76,000 Ukrainian soldiers had been killed and wounded in the Kursk region

Russia's military says its troops now control several settlements in Ukraine's north-eastern Sumy region, located next to Kursk.

The Kursk offensive is proof it has been Ukraine, and not Russia, wasting lives with meat waves.

Ukraine's Kursk Offensive in 2024 was Jake Sullivan's second attempt at a counter-offensive against Russia (NSA and State became Department of War).

Its results weren't as disastrous as The Great Summer Counter-Offensive of 2023, but its objectives were more absurd.

I really question the 76,000 Uke casualties claimed. That’s an ungodly number for such a foolish operation. I can see placing that sort of manpower and equipment on the front lines defending the homeland, but a thrust into Russia was just stupid.

This looks like another Nuland fiasco. Maybe someone will investigate.

It’s an old trick that the Russians learned from the Mongols. Someone wants to invade your territory and you have no natural boundaries to form a defense around you let them. You want 100 miles-sure here you go. How about another, and another. How about 1000 miles? Sure. Oh you’re getting hungry and want to go home, well, we want to keep you here.

“It's an old trick that the Russians learned from the Mongols. “

More like:

1. they got caught with their pants down,
2. after initial shock, they moved to their Baghdad Bob level of propaganda claiming that it is totally insignificant and besides it was allowed as a part of some 6D master strategy,
3. after months of preparations and bringing in North Koreans, they started slowly regaining ground,
4. the counteroffensive was so slow because... it is a meat grinder for the Ukes, when in fact the Ukes had a lot of time to prepare fortified positions and put the mines so the rus losses must have been several times higher,
5. after 8 friggin months they finally regained their own land and make it look like they won the Battle of Stalingrad 2.0.
6. their trolls and useful idiots spread that nonsense around.

All of that perfectly illustrates the “Russian world” - shit on the stick waved by a drunk imbecile.

“I really question the 76,000 Uke casualties claimed. “

The whole front would have collapsed if they lost half of that.

In 1943 the Russians were fighting Nazis at Kursk, 2025…how long until more young men fight over the same piece of ground and will mankind ever learn to live in peace?

When the ISW and BBC admit, “allegedly” the Russians have regained most of the territory lost to Ukraine in Kursk, it probably means they have already crossed the international border and are now advancing into Sumy. Perhaps the reason for Zelensky’s unscheduled “tete-a-tete” with DJT in Rome.

When the ISW and BBC admit, “allegedly” the Russians have regained most of the territory lost to Ukraine in Kursk, it probably means they have already crossed the international border and are now advancing into Sumy.

This sentence (without denial or qualification), in the BBC article confirms your observation:

"Russia's military says its troops now control several settlements in Ukraine's north-eastern Sumy region, located next to Kursk."

Perhaps the reason for Zelensky’s unscheduled “tete-a-tete” with DJT in Rome.

Again you are correct, Saint Zelensky went to Beg President Trump, not to respect the Pope.
