An illegal immigrant was arrested Saturday for stealing Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s pricey Gucci bag containing $3,000 in cash and other personal items – and a second migrant suspect is still on the loose, according to sources.
Noem, 53, was on an Easter outing with her family at The Capital Burger in Washington, DC, when the masked thief stole the luxury shoulder bag, which also contained her driver’s license, passport, DHS badge and apartment keys on April 20.
The suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, was busted by the DC Metro Police and the Secret Service, sources said.
The perp, who is believed to be part of a large east coast robbery crew, is expected to appear in court early next week as law enforcement hunt for his accomplice, sources said. Officials are also looking for a second suspect who is also reportedly an illegal migrant.
DC US Attorney Ed Martin noted it is unlikely Noem was targeted based on her high-profile position. “There is no indication it was because of that,” Martin told NBC News.

We need a law that mandates the death penalty for committing certain crimes (robbery, burglary, homicide, rape, identity theft, etc.) while being illegally in the country.
I would like to see much more liberal use of the death penalty.

All I can figure is that she doesn’t want to leave a paper trail of her spending. Or she was on her way to meet up with a drug dealer. No other reasons I can think of for carrying that much cash in a high-crime city.
Let us not forget that the Secret Service was asleep at the switch...again.
Let her move to Europe if she doesn't want to buy American.

She needs to live like the Proles. Cops should file a criminal forfeiture on it and let her sue to get it back and she can explain in court like an ordinary citizen would have to do.

Well the ladies love thier accessories …. As far as the $3k…. My friend Jim after a lot of work became very wealthy his bank set up a meeting to discuss his personal security. One of the things that shocked him was that he was to carry a pretty good amount of cash on him… the reason being if someone were to rob him, he would have something to give them and a large amount of cash would spook the would be robber, and they just take the money and runoff… most of us don’t get this training and won’t … but if your bank account gets large enough the wealth management department gets an email you don’t have to wait in line at the coin counting machine .
Carrying the cash around with you is foolish, unless you are buying a vehicle, collectible gun, etc. I should not have mentioned gucci as I wouldn’t recognize one anyway. Women like purses
I get your point but using Judge Judy as an insult doesn’t work. The real judge Judy would throw crooks in the slammer or give ICE Agents front row seats so they could arrest Illegals. She is pretty hard conservative
Still want to hear how he was able to get that close to her with the Secret Service there. She should be able to count on them while eating a meal.
An earlier article said her two Secret Service agents were “observing from the bar.” And as for the $3,000, remember she’s recently far from home and may need cash to set up her new household, etc. I always have more cash than usual in my pocket when away from home or traveling.
The head of Homeland Security probably knows more than anyone else the tracking tied to credit and debit cards. I wouldn’t be surprised if she went all cash.
Secret service was sitting in the bar instead of watching her. If he was there to kill he, he would have succeeded. Probably another all female crew so they could follow her into the ladies room.
Secret Service failed on this.
