I remember the Norks bragging about their technological ability. First thing I noticed was the Norks were using DELL computers.
Agreed. A boondoggle. Unfortunately, the Navy really messed up the Constellation Class frigate as well. It was supposed to mirror the selected Italian frigate. From what I’ve read, it now only has 10% commonality with the Italian frigate. Delays and cost overruns.
They resurrected the Minnow . . . . .?
3000 tons less than an Arleigh Burke class. This is pip squeak- size. Perfect...yeah.. right. North Korean Brown Water Navy. Riverine acc. to Jane’s.
Of all the military, the Navy and the Air Force are responsible for the most disastrous development of hardware.
I can understand the AF, but the Navy?
If i had my say, the Navy wouldnt get another mamouth carrier ever again. It’d be a rapid development and increase of the sub fleet and development and maintainment of the destroyer and cruiser surface fleet, as well as the transportation fleet. The only carrier fleet would be the developement of the new Japanese type smaller faster carriers using the F35 or similar aircraft.
It looks like it was made from a plastic modeling kit.
What do US attack boats call surface ships?
😉
Quack.
We were 4200 tons fully loaded (FF-1061 PATTERSON) and had a helipad. We could carry an SH-2 Seasprite. Now we weren’t a major threat to anyone except as part of a task force.
The SS Minnow looked more formidable.
This is measured in tonNEs!!!

570 tons smaller than your average light cruiser (CL); Your typical cruiser (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Boston_(CA-69) is about 15,000 tons.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a sitting duck.
5.56mm
It would be hilarious if it caught fire and burned to the waterline during its first deployment. The Chinese had problem with one of their subs I think it was, while it was under construction. :^)
