CARLISLE, Pennsylvania — Minutes after giving a policy-rich address to senior-level military students, faculty, and staff at the Army War College here in rural Cumberland County, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that he relished the occasion to detail the Pentagon’s focus going forward.

“They knew that from the minute he chose me and through my entire confirmation process, from the minute I walked into the building to the first initiatives we took, that is DEI is dead at DOD,” he said of his February order to nuke all digital DEI content at the Pentagon.
Hegseth said if he slow-rolled the process, he would have failed to meet the moment: “This is the president and this is his agenda. We’re going to execute right now, and we’re not going to apologize for it. And he’s got our back. Let’s go.”
Hegseth said he understands the consequences. “I know that puts a target on my back, and people don’t really know this about me, but I’ve spent years in Washington running veterans organizations. I’m not a D.C. person, and I think that’s an asset for me,” he said.
“The other thing that makes me a threat is I literally wrote a book on the subject of reform the year before I came in. I care about this stuff. This is what the war fighters are telling me. This is what’s happened to our DOD. And then we got to walk in and be like, how about we do this stuff that the president wants us to do and make it happen? And that’s why we were not surprised by the recruiting surge,” he said.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
As an aside, the author of this article, Salena Zito, was standing just feet away from the President in Butler, PA when he was shot.
Interesting.
The Deep State has been coming for Hegseth. Not surprising. Look at how much money is at stake in the DOD. I am of the belief there is an ongoing effort to frame him with this Signal Chat BS.
I hope Pete has good security.
His next, ongoing challenge will be the thousands who will resist by not doing what he orders.
I agree. I think in light of what happened with General Flynn back in 2016-2017, Trump is not inclined in the least to jettison him unless it is something really, provably egregious.
And even then.
I hope you right. Trump let them intimidate his AG pick and we got a lightweight camera kitty.
The UCMJ gives the military a distinct advantage in addressing resistance to change compared to non-military agencies. The military’s legal framework, through articles like Article 90 (disobeying a superior officer) and Article 92 (failure to obey lawful orders), allows for swift disciplinary action—ranging from non-judicial punishment to court-martial—that civilian agencies lack.
This enforces compliance in a way that’s faster and more direct than civilian mechanisms, where resistance might be addressed through slower processes like HR complaints, union negotiations, or civil lawsuits.

It’s about time! The US military over the last 50 years has fallen behind on action and ahead on toys that are behind the grind or obsolete when the second one is assembled. We are no longer the leader in defence strategy as we are too busy making the effort to counter charlie’s innovations. We aren’t getting there first, but last. And we have caved on trying to take the lead to make charlie raise his head and be concerned. Tack that on to a 100% defensive posture and you are constantly threatened by anyone out there to include countries that shouldn’t even be on the same planet let alone sending our politicians running with their tails tucked.
Military might isn’t about turning a space around the world into dust. It’s about letting the area know we can and will if we are forced. So, like the tariffs, the atmosphere at the table can be now of respect and a willingness to deal...without that FU if we don’t want it. Right now, they aren’t afraid to say it because they won’t get it shoved down their throats. You go Pete. The United States of America is a North American nation that is the world’s most dominant economic and military power. So the tools are there, just be prepared to use them and let charlie know we are so treat us with respect...or else.
