Jeffrey Ferguson, 74, was convicted for the 2023 killing of his wife Sheryl, 65, in their Anaheim Hills home..

A Southern California judge was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder for the fatal shooting of his wife during an argument.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ferguson, 74, was on trial for the 2023 killing of his wife Sheryl, 65, in their Anaheim Hills home. Ferguson took the stand in his defense and admitted to shooting his wife but claimed it was an accident.

Jurors reached their decision Tuesday afternoon after deliberating since the day before. He was also found guilty of a felony gun enhancement and faces a maximum of 40 years to life in prison when he is sentenced June 13.

Once the verdict was read in court, Ferguson was seen hugging his son before he was handcuffed and taken into custody.

...

Prosecutors said Ferguson and his wife had an argument about finances at a restaurant on Aug. 3, 2023, when he made a gun-like hand gesture toward her. They continued their argument when they returned home as they watched TV with their adult son, and Ferguson's wife chided him to point a real gun at her. He obliged, pulling a pistol from his ankle holster before shooting her in the chest.

Ferguson was drunk at the time, according to prosecutors.

...

He had been out on $2 million bail but was not presiding in court as the state constitution prohibits a judge facing a felony charge from hearing cases.

He didn’t plea down to discharging a firearm within city limits?

What is this world coming to?

Wow, so judges are not the lofty wizened saviors of democracy as claimed by the left? Their rulings are sanctified without question. How dare you question a judge!!! I’m thinking there are more like this one, and more hateful Democrat obstructionists than we yet know.

Anaheim Hills - very upscale neighborhood not immune to everyday ills. Notice the judge had a weapon in an ankle holster - apparently is armed wherever he goes - courtroom, restaurant, home...WHY at home?

From the article: Ferguson's wife chided him to point a real gun at her. He obliged, pulling a pistol from his ankle holster...

Sounds like the charge is practicing "medicine" without a license. California has legal physician-assisted suicide since then-governor Jerry Brown signed it into law in 2016. The judge knew he wasn't a licensed physician.

Other than that charge, what's the crime? She's an adult, challenged him to shoot her, and got exactly what she asked for. #believeallwomen

I never understand how defendants think these “the gun accidentally went off and killed my spouse” defenses are going to work. What? You’re just walking around with a loaded gun in your house and it happens to go off as you are pointing it at your wife?

Based on that picture, looks like no love lost between son and mother. Not to justify the murder, but you gotta wonder if she was an Orange County Superior Beotch.

If he was a heavy drinker with a history of being out of control, she should have hit him in the head with a baseball bat and put him (and her) out of his misery years ago!

Wonder what his defense will be!!!! “My wife was a nag”.

Nothing is sacred any longer, Nully.

It is a sad day in California when a Judge can’t kill his wife and get away with it.

He could not convince them that his name was Hillary Clinton.

Nor could he convince them that he played basketball for the University of Alabama.

It just wasn’t his day.

He can just do what democrat judges do and issue a temporary injunction or some other BS and declare he can not be prosecuted.
