As drivers on U.S. highways cross from one state to another, they often are greeted by a large "Welcome to ...." sign.
But not all drivers are welcome in every state.
In Florida, motorists with special out-of-state driver's licenses issued to those in the U.S. illegally are not welcome to drive. Wyoming's governor enacted a comparable ban this year. And Tennessee's governor said he will sign similar legislation sent to his desk recently.
The message, though not literally printed on metal, is clear: "The sign says, 'Welcome to Tennessee, illegal immigrants are not welcome,'" Tennessee House Majority Leader William Lamberth declared during debate.
As President Donald Trump cracks down on illegal immigration, Republican lawmakers in many states are pushing new laws targeting people lacking legal status to live in the U.S. The measures contrast with policies in 19 other states and Washington, D.C., which issue driver's licenses regardless of whether residents can prove their legal presence.
The Justice Department is seeking to strike down one such law in New York, which shields its driver's license data from federal immigration authorities.
States are taking drastically different approaches to licensing drivers even as the federal government attempts to standardize the process.

And, I am sure they all have insurance.
Solution;
Executive Order banning illegal aliens from driving vehicles on any Interstate Highway or any road built with federal funds.
Illegals caught driving on these roads will be sent to detention centers to await deportation.
Anybody have a method of getting the message to President Trump?
Phone calls and emails are read by staff, not the President, and he’s the person who needs to take action.
Something like this should go a long way toward getting illegals off the roads and preventing the mass moving of illegals from state to state.
And I, a citizen, must have a birth certificate, & a piece of mail with my hometown address before I can even get in line at the DMV. For the same driver’s license I’ve been getting for 50+ years. I didn’t get the star because I didn’t have a piece of mail, but the license in my wallet was addressed to me by the DMV and delivered by the mail carrier. Hoops, hoops, and more hoops.
Been a victim of that, read ended. No insurance, car registered in another state, drivers license from a third state. He walks away and I have to pay my $500 deductible for repairs. I have had enough, NO DRIVERS LICENSES FOR ILLEGALS.
Once this law starts being enforced and executed. The leftists will go judge shopping and overturn this. Mark my words.
Agreed.
The blue states created this mess.
My current drivers’ license
(no star) was good enough for me
to qualify for a secret clearance.
Once again, the burden is placed
on American citizen.
Real ID is BS.
I refuse to jump thru the hoops.
I’m sure the airlines won’t miss
my patronage.
This has nothing to do with my
being too lazy or too stupid to
obtain a Real ID. My current
form of ID afforded me every
American right for more than
50 years.
All of a sudden it’s downgraded
dto second class?
Amen. Every freedom they press me to validate over and over, those who aren’t qualified to be citizens are granted citizenry with a wiggle of the nose, and voilà it’s their’s.
“leftists will go judge shopping”
This is one issue where I hope they
do.
This wasn’t a problem until illegals
were issued drivers’ licenses.
And now it’s up to US to fix it?
As stated previously...Real ID is
bull crap.
It’s just another tool in the
government’s tool box to track
your every move.
