Over 500 were on that ship?
Where were they headed to? Perhaps enroute to illegally invade a country that doesn’t want them?

Just internal travel is my guess. Congo is big, and the river is huge. Deepest in the world.

500 people on a large wooden ship? I thought that sort of travel ended ages ago.

Life can be very rough and it can horrendous outcomes when you don’t have a peaceful civil society focused on improving residents’ situations and don’t have freedom, justice and decency at it’s core.

Correct take. Stuff happens, constantly.

Jesus was alerted to the “Tower of Siloam” that collapsed and killed over 100 in a nearby town.
