White House ends permanent ‘wires’ spot in press pool after AP court win, expands ‘print’ access

WASHINGTON — The Trump administration will no longer give wire services a permanent spot in the White House press pool following The Associated Press’ victory last week in a lawsuit over its exclusion, The Post has learned.

Instead, the White House is giving a second spot to “print” journalists — a term henceforth including wire reporters — who will get access to President Trump in small event spaces.

...

DC US District Judge Trevor McFadden last week ordered the AP’s restoration to the press pool — after weeks of exclusion over editors’ refusal to update the AP Stylebook to refer to the body of water stretching from Florida to Texas as the “Gulf of America” pursuant to Trump’s official renaming.

McFadden’s ruling contained a glaring loophole that said the AP “cannot be treated worse than its peer wire services” — meaning the end of longstanding special access for all wires may pass legal muster.

Forbid all of the media from entering WH grounds. Rope a spot outside and have the pressers there, or even better, have them submit written questions.

I’m so tired of these friggin judges. Perhaps Trump should tell judges whom they must let in to their court rooms and charge then when they don’t. Judges think they are gods, but are arrogant POSs instead.

This is great. Now all the wire services are excluded, and they only have the AP to blame. "Ha Ha".

The first position also passes legal muster except in the case of leftist “judges”.

This is a clearly unconstitutional ruling.

The courts can not dictate to the Executive how it will conduct White House business.

This ruling should be ignored as should all the rulings on the Deportations of illegals.

If it was Biden under this ruling he probably order the Secret Service that no AP reporter would pass the necessary background check to receive credentials to enter the White House.

Actually in his decision, the judge explicitly said while the WH cannot exclude one media because of a disagreement with content, it does not mean the WH has to give equal turn to all media. The WH can choose which questions to answer or not.

All that’s needed to destroy our Constitutional Republic is for Congress and the USSC to come under control of Marxist-Democrats.

IMHO Trump made a tragic mistake the first time he neglected to reject the judiciary’s intervention in the decision-making process of the Nation’s Chief Executive because such intervention is a direct and egregious violation of the Constitution.

Unfortunately the US public is severely ignorant of the Constitution and the national press makes sure that they stay that way.

For the press only Democrat Presidents can ignore judicial orders.
