Feds planning nearly 25 miles of new border wall near Coronado National Forest (Arizona)
Tucson Sentinel ^ | 14 April 2025 | Paul Ingram

CBP officials are planning to construct approximately 24.7 miles of "new primary barrier" to close a gap just south of the Coronado National Forest in Cochise County... one of the few areas (in Arizona) without a border barrier.

This planned new segment of Border Wall System, confirmed in writing by Homeland Security on 11 April 2025, will extend from Border marker 102, directly South of Sierra Vista/Ft. Huachuca, out West toward Nogales. It will fill the now wide open gap across the San Rafael Valley, between the Huachuca Mountains and the Patagonia Mountains.

This is the Western flank of Ft. Huachuca, as Ft.Huachuca takes on its new role assigned just last week (also on 11 April 2025 - https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/04/military-mission-for-sealing-the-southern-border-of-the-united-states-and-repelling-invasions/), expanding Military jurisdiction along the Border, through the 60 foot wide strip of the Roosevelt Reservation.

From the East of this proposed segment, to the New Mexico Border, along a stretch of already constructed Trump-style Border Wall System, the US Army will conduct its initial 45 day phased implementation of Military control of the Roosevelt Reservation, designed to expand over time.

The construction of this new segment of Border Wall System would greatly enable the expansion of that area of Military control from Ft. Huachuca to the West, incorporating the already constructed Border Wall System around the urban area of Nogales resulting in over 100 miles of border frontage for Ft. Huachuca.

This is where land mines come in. Sow a few million into a 500 yard width for that length and the problem is solved.

Also set up signs in Spanish that we castrate child molesters.

The funny thing is that you don’t really need a border wall to stop millions from coming in every year.
You just need an administration that doesn’t broadcast an international welcome message to all illegals.

It’s amazing what happens when you take away some of the carrot and add some stick.

But I’m not against having a wall as well.
In fact, it’s the really dangerous ones who are probably going to avoid claiming asylum at actual border crossings.

“pray for the success of the completion of the wall”

Amen.

A lot of prioritized construction occurred during the first Trump Administration along the Roosevelt Reservation in California, Arizona and New Mexico (a 60 foot Government easement along the border in those three States). The abrupt halt after Biden’s inauguration left multiple gaps in those high priority segments (e.g. where a gate contractor would follow to install gates, after the wall panels had settled and cured, or where terrain required special construction techniques, like steep mountain slopes and waterways).

Those wide open gaps, even if just 50 feet, greatly diminished the effect of the wall, allowing crowds to just walk through during the Biden Administration. Construction resumed on closing those gaps, in the first week after President Trump’s inauguration. Closing those small gaps will go quickly (months), and will make a significant impact on the effectiveness of the physical barrier.

“24.7 miles”

Why not round it up to an even 100 miles?

It’s so simple:
* Don’t broadcast “welcome” to the world
* Put violators into camps and deport ASAP. Better yet, throw them back into Mexico the instant they are caught.
* Don’t give them free phones, rent, health care, housing, airplane flights, etc
* Arrest and charge Catholic Charities and Lutheran Services execs as aiding and abetting the invasion.
* Threaten illegals. Tell them “We are going to find you and deport you. If you use the ‘Self Deport’ app, you MIGHT be able to come back legally in the future.”
* Send lots more gang members to CECOT
* Build another four CECOT prisons in El Salvador
* Arm the Roosevelt Reservation

“Need a current map.”

CBP recently took down its web page, that used to show the current status. It was used during the first Trump Administration to publicize progress, and remained up (unchanging) during the Biden Admin.

Now suddenly, it’s gone. I had last visited a few weeks ago (2? 3?), but today it is gone.

Maybe it is FOUO (For Official Use Only), now that the Military is starting to take jurisdiction, along the CA, AZ and NM sectors.

"you don’t really need a border wall to stop millions from coming in every year."

Yes you do. This one ^

Negates this one:

"You just need an administration that doesn’t broadcast an international welcome message to all illegals."

This one ^

Gets prevented by this one:

"you don’t really need a border wall to stop millions from coming in every year."

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Once we have a proper border wall, go ahead and let the administration broadcast whatever the heck they want. It won't matter so much. "Come see our big beautiful wall" <-- said no open borders president.

“Why not round it up to an even 100 miles?”

1. It is the gap between two previously constructed segments.

2. There is only enough money left over from the first Trump Admin (that had been frozen by Biden), to do a limited number of high priority new contract awards.

When Congress approves the next budget (for this Fiscal Year), with a new big lump sum in funding for the wall, we should be off to the races in earnest.

Recall that Trump was able to legally redistribute defense money in his first term to building the wall. Can’t he do that again?

The Military Reservation designation is probably needed to defeat envirokook lawsuits.

Some communist larping as a judge will probably still enjoin it. The commanding officer should look at the order and say, "Sorry, the judge is not a superior in my chain of command."

You left out one of the most important changes needed: arrest and fine employers of illegals.

"Arm the Roosevelt Reservation"

We can check that one off your excellent list. The Administration had a 90 day planning period to prepare, and on Friday, 11 April, the President ordered them to execute the transition of jurisdiction to Military control.

In preparation, troop units had already been deploying to Ft. Bliss and Ft.Huachuca, and are already on station with their equipment, including Stryker Fighting Vehicles. It will be a rollout over time, but it has begun.

Maybe they're just bringing it up to date. My guess is that anyone in the business of violating the border knows where the gaps are in the barrier. There's no reason to keep it a secret.

I knew it was going to happen, but I didn’t know the schedule or the April 11 initiation. Thanks.
