Over 76,000 Dutch defence employees received an ‘Order of the Day’ (Dagorder) last week, which outlined the military’s newest goal — to be ready for deployment faster.
The order was written by the Netherlands’ highest military officer, Onno Eichelsheim, and is meant to “emphasise urgency once again”, reports the NOS.
Civilians will notice a change, with more uniforms and military transport in the streets.

Cleverly worded headline.
Being directed to increase your deployment times is not the same things as being told to be ready to deploy urgently.
I still remember pics of Dutch hippies in uniform ready to oppose the Soviets as part of NATO forces. It did not exactly engender confidence.
“emphasise urgency once again”?
I assume this is just a change in policy after realizing how little prepared they are to a sudden attack by the Russians.
They’re going out to stick their thumbs in the dykes.
I spent two months with the Dutch Army in the late 70’s as part of a NATO Interoperability exercise. They were unionized at the time and looked like a band of hippies. They were technically proficient but I wondered about their war fighting abilities.
Russia is directly across the Baltic Sea (kalingrad). I am sure there would be a few missiles coming their way in a conflict.
While I doubt that Poland would be the “speed bump” they were in 1939, its always good to be prepared.
Well, perhaps we are seeing the rebirth of wars caused by the forces of human migration and the need for new land by those who have been displaced. The Dutch like many of those under EU tyranny have their own invasion problem. We could offer them an opportunity. If you can take Socal you can have it.
Or we could give them Washington DC so long as they leave the Smithsonian intact and don’t despoil the cherry trees.
URENTLY is an extremely deceptive word in the title and used wrongly.
The order was written by the Netherlands’ highest military officer, Onno Eichelsheim, and is meant to “emphasise urgency once again”,
IF something happens.
The title makes it sound like something IS happening.
Lie.
Dutch, not Danish. The Dutch are on the North Sea.
“Sudden attack by the Russians”? OMG, it’s April, 1940 all over again!
Thanks for confirming my memory. Always nice when that happens!
Technical proficiency goes a long way in modern warfare, but it certainly isn’t everything, is my take.
Defence employees.
Wiki states the Dutch military is 16,266 active duty, 3,514 civilian and 4,046 reserve, for a total of less than 24 thousand. The number in the article is like the peacock spreading its feathered plume.
The picture in the article shows combat military.
The article reads: "Soldiers must 'examine their personal readiness', for example, checking if their vaccinations are in order, and what shape their basic skills are in."
Jabbed? That proves readiness for war in Ukraine or the Baltic states?
And they’re still refusing to institute a draft.
Your blood and treasure first, Europe.
Dutch, not Danish. The Dutch are on the North Sea.

Similarly, I wonder how many people mix up Belgian and Dutch. I am guilty. I usually have to think about which is what when either one is mentioned.
They have already let the enemy in, and it is not the Russians.
Come to think of it, since Project Ukraine has collapsed, when do the Russians blitzkrieg over the Baltic States and Poland? You and all the NATO politicians and disinfo lackeys had us go to war with Russia over this extreme, looming threat.
You have preached that nonsense for three years. You might want to tone it down a bit.
Check out the tagline and show a little contrition.
Correct.
FReeper Knighthawk would almost certainly concur.
