Trump’s Easter Message And UK’s Paganism Show Clear Choice: Christianity Or Cultural Suicide
The Federalist ^ | 04/14/2025 | Logan Washburn

While President Trump honored Palm Sunday, King Charles III neglected it — instead honoring a pagan holiday.

When President Donald Trump honored the Christian celebration of Holy Week before Easter, he took a striking stand against the spiritual atrophy consuming much of Western civilization. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom’s leaders celebrated a pagan holiday instead of Palm Sunday.

“This Holy Week, Christians around the World remember the Crucifixion of God’s Only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Trump wrote on Palm Sunday on Truth Social. “[O]n Easter Sunday, we celebrate His Glorious Resurrection and proclaim, as Christians have done for nearly 2,000 years, ‘HE IS RISEN!’”

But in the United Kingdom, King Charles III — the head of the Church of England, and “defender of the faith” — apparently failed to even issue a statement for Holy Week or Palm Sunday, according to a search of his social media pages on X, Facebook, and Instagram. Instead, the next day, the Royal Family recognized the Sikh holiday of Vaisakhi, honoring the birth of Sikhism. Prime Minister Keir Starmer appeared to similarly neglect Palm Sunday, yet honored the Sikh holiday.

Choosing Different Paths

Both America and the United Kingdom inherited hundreds of years of common Western civilization, which has given them a rich heritage of Christian faith and tradition. This enabled both countries to build cultures with religious and civil liberties, yet tethered to eternal truths. As President George Washington — a member of the Church of England — wrote in his Farewell Address, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

But this common Christian heritage is under siege by rampant secularism and paganism. Trump confronted this when he explicitly honored the true meaning of Easter and the Christian gospel. On Palm Sunday, the White House issued a formal “Presidential Message on Holy Week.”

“In His final hours on Earth, Christ willingly endured excruciating pain, torture, and execution on the cross out of a deep and abiding love for all His creation. Through His suffering, we have redemption. Through His death, we are forgiven of our sins. Through His Resurrection, we have hope of eternal life,” the statement reads. “On Easter morning, the stone is rolled away, the tomb is empty, and light prevails over darkness — signaling that death does not have the final word.”

This direct delivery of the gospel story reflects a changing attitude among the American people, as the decades-long decline in Christianity has stabilized for the first time in years, according to Pew Research. Meanwhile, the number of religious “nones” has “plateaued.”

In the statement, Trump also made a commitment to “defend the Christian faith in our schools, military, workplaces, hospitals, and halls of government” and to continue “safeguarding the right to religious liberty, upholding the dignity of life, and protecting God in our public square.”

This is a striking contrast to the United Kingdom, which ironically has King Charles III as an explicit “defender of the faith.” There, an elderly Christian woman was recently convicted for offering to speak with patients outside an abortion clinic. The secular government routinely arrests citizens, including Christians, for speech deemed offensive.

Meanwhile, the king welcomes cultures hostile to his nation’s heritage. While the Royal Family seemingly neglected to issue a statement honoring Palm Sunday or Holy Week, they recently celebrated the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan fasting. “#EidMubarak to Muslims celebrating in the UK and around the world,” the family wrote. The king hosted Ramadan celebrations in March at Windsor Castle, a royal residence.

While the official religion of England is Christianity (under the Church of England), only 46 percent of English still identified as Christian in 2021 —  a 13 percent decrease from 2011, according to census statistics. Meanwhile, the Church of England has become increasingly liberal and secularized, watering down its stance on issues like sexuality.

While King Charles III neglected Christianity, Trump asked for God to pour out the blessings of divine providence upon America.

“This week, we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon our beloved Nation,” reads the statement from The White House. “We pray that America will remain a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom for the entire world, and we pray to achieve a future that reflects the truth, beauty, and goodness of Christ’s eternal kingdom in Heaven.”

Now you know why God backed Trump.
The UK is too stupid to figure that out.

I know this might go over like a lead balloon but the Church of England was started out of a wish to give Henry VIII license to divorce his wife by making him head of the Church of England. This gave him the power to do what he could not get the Pope to do, to grant him a divorce. Now as head of the Church Henry could dissolve his own marriage.

The Act of Supremacy 1534 confirmed the Henry VIII status as having supremacy over the church and required the peers to swear an oath recognising Henry’s supremacy. Henry’s daughter Mary I attempted to restore the English Church’s allegiance to the Pope and repealed the Act of Supremacy in 1555. Elizabeth I ascended to the throne in 1558, and the Parliament restored the original Act by passing the Act of Supremacy 1558. To placate critics, the Oath of Supremacy, which peers were required to swear, set the monarch’s title as supreme governor rather than supreme head of the restored Church of England. This wording avoided the charge that the monarchy was claiming divinity or subordinating Jesus of Nazareth (whom the Christian Bible explicitly identified as the head of the Church in the Epistle to the Ephesians).

Henry was already cheating on Ann Boleyn with Jane Seymour (and others) but instead of divorcing her he beheaded her accusing her of adultery which is really hypocritical because that is what he was doing and she was not.

That is how the Church of England began. It’s incredible really. The story is very well known.

King Charles is now considered ‘supreme governor’ of the Church of England, similar to the position of Henry VIII.

Charles, like Henry VIII cheated on his wife, Diana. He married her already in love and involved with another woman, Camilla Parker Bowles who now is his wife and like Jane Seymour, he made her his Queen. I understand it is different than Henry VIII in the way he did not behead Diana but she like Boleyn died and was out of the picture. Charles then free to make his adulterous partner Queen. Not suitable for a man who is the supreme governor of a church yet somehow this is never said to my knowledge and doesn’t come into play here. I don’t know why not. How can a church have God’s blessing on it and do something against it’s own tenets, God’s Commandments?

So did this weaken the faith of the one in the Church of England? Seeing this parishoners must’ve considered these things. Did it cause a rupture in their faith and a kind of weakness in their belief as a result. As this article says, “While King Charles III neglected Christianity, Trump asked for God to pour out the blessings of divine providence upon America”.

I really believe this is very much what we need. We were more of a Christian nation when I grew up. The many years that have passed by I have watched it diminish the faith decrease, the crimes increase, the family unit breaking up. I hope very much in this direction Trump wants to go. He needs our prayers.

I urge you all to check out this story: Tom Zimmer, a holy man living in Loretto, Italy - prophesy about Donald J. Trump. This prophesy was made about 35 years ago. His prediction is seeming to be fulfilled.

TBF, it’s not Palm Sunday yet. An acknowledgement may be forthcoming. But, yeah, the UK is going down the tubes. King Charles could throw the remaining weight of the monarchy against his country’s decline, but instead he seems to promote it.

Because we are all fallen in the eyes of Christ. So is the Pope. Hence, what is the point to be made about it?

What a nonsensical article. Either culpably misinformed or deliberately misleading.

Keir Starmer did indeed send that message to British Sikhs. He has also issued a 'Happy Passover' message to British Jewry - unsurprising since he's married to an observant Jew and his children are being raised as observant Jews. He will also doubtless issue a happy Easter message before the weekend, as every Prime Minister does every year. As did Charles III last year, and will again this year. The idea that notice is only taken of pagan festivals is absurd.

The point was right in my original post.

“How can a church have God’s blessing on it and do something against it’s own tenets, God’s Commandments?

So did this weaken the faith of the one in the Church of England? Seeing this parishoners must’ve considered these things. Did it cause a rupture in their faith and a kind of weakness in their belief as a result. As this article says, “While King Charles III neglected Christianity, Trump asked for God to pour out the blessings of divine providence upon America”.

It’s not the same for the parishoners as spiritual leaders of the flock. Not strictly adhering to the commandments as a spiritual leader is judged differently by God. It is not ‘falling’ if one willfully goes against the Commandments with no repentance and this can cause the flock to sin because of the obvious disregard and they can be led to believe the behaviour is acceptable.

James 3:1Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Luke 11:42, 43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.43 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you love the most important seats in the synagogues and respectful greetings in the marketplaces.

Matthew 18:6
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

The man is suffering from terminal cancer and he looks like it won't be long. One wonders if he appealed to God to at least bless him in his journey through what is likely considerable agony, much less save his soul. I highly doubt it. The sins of the father? Harry is half-way to a divorce 16 months max or his father's demise, whichever comes first.

I mean, I’m not happy for his troubles. I, myself would not want to be the head of a church or some high up position in a church. Big responsibility. Not to be taken lightly.

It’s a position for the very faithful and diligent. Not a time to slack off and pass it off as ‘oh, we none of us are perfect’ because when you assume that office that doesn’t fly. You can’t just do as you want and then figure God’s a softie and I’ll do my crocodile tears and...

Nope. We all need to get with the program though. This country is going to Hell in a handbasket, as they say and has been for a long time and with deliberate assistance of certain peoples, groups.

Seeing as it had already weakened the Church of Constantine, I doubt the significance of the marginal effect in England, never mind that history of dispensations. In general, the Church as a whole is so ignorant of the Torah it's hard to point at a single cause.
