An internal document reviewed by The Post targets spending on humanitarian assistance, global health and international organizations such as the U.N. and NATO...
The memo, which was reviewed by The Washington Post, says that cuts contained in an early proposal from the White House Office of Management and Budget for the next fiscal year would leave a total budget of $28.4 billion for all activities carried out by the State Department and USAID, a separate agency that the Trump administration has sought to dismantle. That represents a decline of $27 billion, or 48 percent, from funding levels approved by Congress for 2025.

Also from the article:
“Funding for the United Nations, NATO and 20 other organizations would be ended.”
Next, the FBI needs to be cut by 85%, the DoD by 30%, etc., etc.
Politico article on same topic:

More details from Politico:
“For example, the National Endowment for Democracy, the East-West Center and the Asia Foundation would get zero dollars. A program known as International Narcotics Control & Law Enforcement, which had more than $1 billion in funding, would also be zeroed out.”
The U.S. Department of State currently has approximately 80,214 employees. This includes 14,399 Foreign Service employees, 12,831 Civil Service employees, and 50,703 locally employed staff.
Needs to be cut more than half. How about 80%?
I can remember when Kissinger wanted to fire one third of the diplomatic corps. It was inn Marvin Kalb’s book.
More from Politico:
“The administration is considering shuttering up to three dozen U.S. diplomatic outposts around the world, according to two U.S. officials familiar with the matter, as part of these sweeping efforts to slash the diplomatic budget. This includes U.S. embassies in Southern Africa and the Sahel, consulates in Europe and several embassies in Oceania, the officials said.”
Embassies in most countries are totally unnecessary in the electronics and communications satellite age. We no longer need in-person diplomacy.
Agreed—and if we are done causing trouble around the world we can get rid of a lot of CIA staff in the embassy basements.
The State Dept is probably 95% America-haters.
“Nearly half” is far from enough.
To reach the DOGE Service,

The bipartisan DOGE Caucus will lead govt efficiency initiatives
in the funding arm of Congress, the House of Representatives.
Agreed.
I dont think we’re done causing trouble in the world... that’s a stretch me thinks...
What a disaster this would be for global arms dealers and Lindsey Graham-like politicians who are always on the side of wars, big & small...
Good move. Those people in State are so anti-Israel demoncRATS who’ve filtered down into the bowels of State that it’ll be almost impossible to out them.
“… shuttering up to three dozen U.S. diplomatic outposts around the world…”
But where will the CIA spooks live?
That is one issue.
The LGBT stuff is another.
“Climate change” insanity is another.
Anti-white hate/DEI propaganda is another.
I would think Chinese infiltration would be yet another.
The overall larger problem is that most State Department employees view themselves as “experts” and de facto royalty.
Firing them is the only possible way to fix that.
Except for The War Department, I’d eliminate all federal departments and agencies that were created after 1789.
