Well they are going to GPS geofence him so they will know in a few seconds if he leaves his home or 100 feet or so around it. That’s what ankle monitors do and if you cut them they scream to the heavens and cops come immediately. Bond is to get people to show up for court you cannot use it to keep people in jail it must be set at a level where the person can reasonably ppat it. If you can successfully argue immediate and lasting danger to society wit large you apply for a no bond order that’s how you legally keep someone in jail this is basic Supreme Court law. And L1 should know this stuff.

Just imagine the backlash if the races were reversed and a judge let a white guy go home after murdering a black kid.

Nobody should have to imagine because everyone knows all hell would break loose.

Collin County is limited in what they can.do. He is z17 so capital murder is nuts, this means capital murder level bond is also out. He is a first offender so they have to set a bond the family can meet. Bond is to get people to show up for ttrial you cannot use it to keep people in jail the U.S. Supreme Court says no to that. You must seek and be granted a no bond order to keep someone in jail till trial. For that you need to prove the client is a clear and present danger to society, a competent attorney is going to successfully argue passion crime and no residual danger. The GPS and house arrest is above what normally would be given for a murder or voluntary manslaughter first offender charge so he already has two kickers on his reviewed bond. You don’t have to like it but this is how the system works you get to be out of jail until trial only under extreme conditions would a judge grant no bond on a first offence. Poor impulse control is not going to cut it with a 17yo protected by two Supreme Court rulings backing them.

I bet he gets his charges dropped or reduced to a misdemeanor with sentencing to a few hours of “community service.”

I don't see that happening. My guess is the defense will try to get the kid some plea options before going to trial. If he pleads to manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide he likely gets time in a medium or minimum security prison and with good behavior could be out in 5 to 10 years.

The system works? All of that would be turned on it's head and ignored if the races were reversed. They'd FIND a way to keep a white perp in jail under these exact same circumstances. The judge in this case went above and beyond to find a way to go light on a confessed murderer BECAUSE of the color of his skin.

I'd bet money I'm right on this one because we've seen way too many examples of this lately.

Virtually every black male in Africa between the ages of 19 and 29 is a ‘track star’.

"Karmelo admitted he did it to police."

He's going to try claiming self defense, but as far as I've seen so far, he never once claimed he believed his life was in peril when he stabbed Austin Metcalf in the heart.

Judge Angela Tucker is a negress.

So what?

Without some history on that judge your statement seems to wrongly hint that is more than just a fact.

Wherever people are going on this thread, the trial is not over, and neither is the full narrative of the confrontation from which this was the result.

"Do murders get out on house arrest?"

This is Texas, so you'd never think it would happen, but in NY State, violent criminals are thrown back out on the street just about every day. Governor Cuomo and Hochul closed dozens of prisons during their terms of office. Hochul wants to close 5 more this year, which means convicts who haven't completed their court-ordered sentences will be released.

There was just a wildcat strike of NY State Correctional Officers because of staff shortages in all the State's prisons. They struck because they've been forced to work 24 hour shifts, which is not supposed to happen unless there is a declared emergency. Hochul fired 2,000 officers that refused the order to return to work. National Guard members are still working in prisons across the State. Albany can't get anyone to take the Correctional Officers test anymore, so how she intends those she fired is beyond me. I'm sure she's going to use the excuse of staff shortages to close those 5 prisons.

Another reason the officers went out was because the State Legislature passed a Bill reducing the time a convict can be placed in segregation for disciplinary reasons. They reduced it to 15 days which is BS. I worked as an officer and Sergeant in NY State's Prison system for 25 years. I retired in 2003, and am glad I got out when I did.

" How can you punish a kid who was just operating within his own cultural norms?"

LOL!! Because sending him to prison would just turn him into an animal.

Now isn’t that special. Does ANYONE think if the races were reversed, the white kid would get out of jail?

The revelation comes after a spokesperson for the family said they can’t leave their after their address was leaked online, leading to ‘graphic and racist threats

Next he will be RORed. Once the money starts getting in the right place. The Judges start falling in line. By the time this gets to trial, they will be ready to hang the victim. At the right time, this young Buck will be playing football on a full scholarship at a major college while shoveling NIL dollars
