Federal immigration law has long required that people who aren’t American citizens and live in the U.S., including those here illegally, register with the government.

Damn near every other civilized country in the world has their local version of this same law. Some even enforce it.

“All Aliens Must Register” —— Years ago you would see these notices in US Post Office. They were required to register yearly. Back then it pertained to legal immigrants. Due to there being zero illegal immigration, at least where I lived.

The laws behind this are applicable to all immigrants. Legal and illegal.

That is true. If you’re a green card holder you have to do it every year.
