China: Trump Asking for Trade Fairness Is ‘Hegemonic and Bullying’
Breitbart ^ | 9 Apr 2025 | John Hayward

The U.S.-China trade war heated up on Wednesday, as President Donald Trump’s tariffs on China soared to a total of 104 percent and China retaliated by announcing an 84 percent levy on U.S. goods.

China furiously denounced Trump’s tariffs as “hegemonic” and called on the world to unite against Trump’s “bullying.”

The Chinese Finance Ministry announced the 84 percent retaliatory tariff on Wednesday, several hours ahead of an expected retaliation from the European Union.

China said it was “inevitable” that it would run a trade surplus against the United States, and it has the “determination and means” to keep fighting back against Trump’s tariffs.

The Customs Tariff Commission of China’s State Council which is effectively the Chinese cabinet said Trump’s tariff escalation was a “mistake on top of a mistake,” infringes upon “China’s legitimate rights and interests,” and “gravely undermines the rules‑based multilateral trading system.”

“China urges the U.S. to immediately correct its wrong practices, cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, and properly resolve differences with China through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect,” the Customs Tariff Commission said.

In addition to raising its own tariffs, China’s retaliation included adding 12 U.S. entities to its export control list.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry said the new export controls on “dual-use” products, which could have military applications, were necessary to “safeguard national security interests and fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation.”

“These entities may engage in activities that may endanger China’s national security and interests, and any export operator shall not violate the above provisions,” the ministry said.

“I am by no means an expert in these matters but I have a feeling that China needs us more than we need them to unload their goods.”

China Gross Domestic Product 2024: $18.8 Trillion.
USA Gross Domestic Product 2024: $29 Trillion.

Let us know when you stop bluffing, China, and let’s make a deal!

We need to decide what we want our economy to look like.

Don’t expect millions Americans to industrially sew. Sewing can done much cheaper elsewhere and poor countries need a sewn good export ability so they can buy American drugs and medical equipment.

Once we have made our plans, we can publish them and then make deals compatible with our plans.

Americans generally love imports, but our exports are insufficient to pay for them all.

Stuff we can make almost as cheaply as any country can needs to be made in the USA so we can import a maximal amount of stuff that has been made at much lower cost than is possible in the USA.

Go find someone else to buy your cheap chinese shit then!

And by the way, there is no way to replace the US demand, so enjoy the suck.

Meanwhile we’ll be rebuilding our own economy and listening to the death rattles of globalism.

The eventual outcome is much easier to predict than the timing. Think about it, you’ve watched govts do stupid things for decades all your life. Eventually they pay the price, but how long they will ignore reality is impossible to predict.

China, the USA and others are at the table looking at their cards. But they basically know each other’s hands!!!

This is the bluff round, but the bluffs are useless unless Trump caves to media and stupid people’s pressure, which I doubt.

If you are thinking about this because of investments, here’s what I did and what I’m about to do. Last Sept my allocation in my investment acct was 60% T-Bills and 40% Stocks. I’m old, my first job is not lose money. I’ve been raising the T-Bill amounts and stopped at 75%-25% in December. I have T-Bills maturing almost every week. Starting tomorrow I’m going to keep flipping the maturing T-Bills but keep some proceeds in cash and I’ll be buying stocks every week until I’m back to 60%-40% again. Then I’ll see how frisky I’m feeling, maybe I’ll keep going, maybe not. I know exactly which stocks I’m buying because I already own them.

“China numbers are laughable”

Trump knows the real number, that’s all that matters. The point of that comment is that we are a larger economy than China.
