KYIV (Reuters) - Ukraine's military chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said in an interview published on Wednesday that Russia had launched a new offensive on the northeast of the country, adding that a large increase in assaults was already being observed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had warned earlier that Russia was preparing an offensive on the two regions of Kharkiv and Sumy.

"I can say that the president is absolutely right and this offensive has actually already begun," Syrskyi said in an interview with Ukrainian publication LB.

"For several days, almost a week, we have been observing almost a doubling of the number of enemy attacks in all main directions (on the frontline)," he said.

Moscow is close to fully pushing Ukrainian forces out of their foothold in Kursk region, which they held since last August and which lies over the border from Sumy region.

If your power is sufficient you settle issues in the field.

If not sufficient, then at the negotiating table.

They finally figured out Russia is on the offensive? Well, I guess that’s something. What are they going to do about that?

That’s what happens when you refuse the negotiating table. 🙄

“What if Russia refuses to sit at that table?”

President Trump has threatened secondary sanctions on buyers of Russian oil - which would collapse Russian oil revenue faster and more severely, than what brought down the Soviet Union.

Or, you just keep kicking the can down the road.

Not sure how destroying ones own country, being responsible for the deaths of tens if not hundreds of thousands, the decimation of ones economy, causing a massive refugee crisis, imploding of the birthrate, unsustainable debt (why they will give us the mineral rights), makes someone a patriot?

Ever notice that idiots like Mr. Z always try to put on a show like they are the true “patriots?” Adolf, Saddam, all these idiots try to pretend like destroying ones country, culture and people is some huge act of “patriotism.”

But I’m not sure who the bigger idiots are. Those that pretend to be patriots and lead their country and people into doom, or the legions that listen to them and swallow it all?

It would all be different if this war actually was unprovoked and a mere land grab.

But that’s not the case. We lie and through repetition pretend like we have the moral high ground, but (((we))) caused this war: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

This war was 100% preventable.

This war was highly probable when we pushed for NATO East expansion and ignored all Russian security concerns.

In fact, with us building CIA bases there, building up Ukraines military, invading Russia’s sphere of influence in Iraq, Venezuela, Syria and Libya...

With us being the ones to ignore the Conventional Forces Europe Treaty, leaving the Ballistic Missile Treaty, Russia should be concerned. If we were in their shoes, (((we))) would be concerned.

For Russia this was a security issue.

For us, it was an economically motivated gamble.

We don’t have a moral high ground on this one. Just a lot of rhetoric and selective memory when it comes to what we promised the Russians. And since you had a liberal Democrat in office that caused this war, our MSM was willing to basically carry the water for that administration.

Several countries will continue to buy Russian oil. He needs to do better than that to get Russia to the table.

“Several countries will continue to buy Russian oil.”

President Trump has proposed applying 50-500% tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil.

No country that matters can afford that. Not China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia or the UAE.

They could barter with a few of their old Soviet clients for goods (like Artillery shells from North Korea, or sugar from Cuba) but it would be the sudden end of their foreign currency earnings, that they need to buy their imports.

Zelensky didn't invade his own country, or do you think he forced Putin to start his special military operation? If some Communist country (with a history of enslaving and starving millions of your countrymen) invaded you, would you not fight to the end to stay out from under their thumb?

More communist cold war cliche junk.

Russia isn’t the Soviet Union, the Warsaw Pact dissolved, and you can’t get it into your head that this caused a war: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/

That was our call.

We did not and will not tolerate anyone doing with us what we expect Russia to accept today: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Missile_Crisis

Speaking of communism, the US has a greater share of its GDP under government control than Russia. Explain that one?

What nation do you think is more Christian today, us or Russia?

Why is Snowden living in Russia, and why are we trying our best to shut down free speech platforms like Telegram and have massive censorship today?

Who do you think is pushing globalism, us or Russia? What leaders and business execs to you find at Davos and Bilderberg?

Who is pushing all of this social justice and egalitarian crap today, us or Russia?

You have been living under a rock for the last 30 years. This isn’t the era of Ronald Reagan vs. the evil empire anymore.

Today, we have become very much like what we once stood against, even fought against.

Worse yet, we have adopted many of the same methods of operation, engaging in assassinations of US citizens abroad without a trial, kidnapping people even from allied nations, torturing the crap out of folks, hiding behind government secrecy (total lack of transparency), systemically violating due process, free speech and privacy, having political prisoners (J6) and the political weaponization of law enforcement and the intel community...

We have become a lot like what they once were, believe that or not, our ACTIONS back that up.

There is more to freedom and justice than just being convinced you’re the best and waiving a flag.
