There’s no way China wins this one.
In 2017, Israeli PM Netanyahu said China accounts for one-third of the investment in Israeli high technology, which includes US military technology the US shares w/ Israel. In the ’90s, Israel sold military equipment and technologies to China, including the Harpy missile system.
Israel Aerospace Industries produced the IAI Harpy. a loitering munition missile. The Harpy is designed to attack radar systems and is optimised for the suppression of enemy air defences (SEAD) role. It carries a high explosive warhead.
The IAI Harpy is a loitering munition, also known as a “suicide drone,” designed to suppress and destroy enemy radar systems, operating autonomously after launch to search for and attack targets.
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
Type: Loitering munition (LM).
Manufacturer: Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
Purpose: Primarily designed for
<><>SEAD (Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses)
<><>and DEAD (Destruction of Enemy Air Defenses) missions.
Capabilities:
<><>Autonomous Operation: Harpy is launched and then flies autonomously to a designated area,
<><>it can loiter for extended periods, searching for and attacking radar emitters.
<><>Long Endurance: Can loiter for up to 9 hours.
<><>All-Weather, Day/Night Operation: Capable of operating in various conditions.
<><>Targeting: Equipped w/ an anti-radiation seeker to target emitting radar systems.
<><>Launch: Launched from ground-based or naval canisters.
Evolution: The Harpy is a predecessor to the Harop, which is a more versatile loitering munition with the ability to target both emitting and non-emitting targets.
Other variants: Mini Harpy is a smaller, more tactical variant.
Key Features:
<><>Fire and Forget: Once launched, Harpy operates autonomously, requiring minimal human intervention.
<><>Flexibility: Can be used in a variety of missions, including deep strike operations and area denial.
<><>Use in Conflict: The Harop, a derivative of the Harpy, has been used in conflicts, such as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, demonstrating its effectiveness in targeting enemy assets.
Israel Air Industries ... Jan 7, 2022 — Harop has the capability to attack any high-value and time-sensitive targets, following all the steps of the killchain.
Chinah needs to start letting water out of their gorgeous dam.
Chinah needs to stop loitering ‘bout the financial part of the Western World.
Yeah right BBC, China saying they are going to fight the tariffs is why stocks are up. Is that what they are conveying or just a piss poor headline?
Anything to spin against the US.
Trump understands this.
Xi and Trump must appear to have a serious and complex negotiation, allowing Xi to return home with the pride of having fought hard and secured a deal as an equal—not as someone who bowed to pressure.
The BBC owes back to the US taxpayers how many millions again ?

“What did we say Freepers? Tuesday the day to play these markets or so it seems”
Gonna snag some more THW. (Healthcare sector) Near a five years low. Price doesn’t fluctuate to wildly $10 - 17. But usually holds a pretty tight $11-14 range. I’ll take that 13.7% divi all day long. Currently paying $1.40 a year per share. Not investment advice, do your own DD.
tariffs are “a typical unilateral bullying practice” says the fascist Chinese police state.
What a shame that the great media narrative about how our economy is being destroyed is over so quickly.
China would be better off pretending they’re a civilized first world country and come to the table to work things out than throwing an angry two year old tantrum.
Clinton, Bush, and Biden certainly created a monster, pandering to China all those years. It’s just like thinking we could build a democracy in the Middle East: trying to turn these collectivist, tribalist minions into little Thomas Jeffersons is not just wasted effort: it’s dangerous. If they don’t have Judeo-Christian underpinnings, they don’t have the philosophical or moral mindset, and it’s just not going to work. They either crumble, or turn on you.
You are NOT wrong.
Ping.
Weaning yourself off of anything is never easy, and often painful.
This is a pain worth enduring. We must do it. We cannot go on as we have been for the last 80 years.
The above statement MAKES NO SENSE.
This seems like a good time to press the EU for 100 billion to keep up the fighting in the Ukraine.
China:
Pound sand. You lose.
The main thing China can do as a nation is to allow US goods to enter China if the goods meet US (and/or EU standards).
The main barrier to selling US stuff to China is the intense patriotic and ethnic desire of Chinese consumers to buy Chinese stuff. That’s not something Xi, Trump or the WTO can fix.
The US via Congress has to insist that stuff such as nails that can be made and packaged by automated means simply has to be made in the USA. Walk down the aisles of Lowe’s and Walmart to see how much of such stuff we import. We should not be importing such stuff as the US money that would be used to pay for it would be better used to buy labor intensive stuff where countries like China have really significant competitive advantage.
Aircraft-type aluminum alloys for US production should have to be made in the USA for national defense reasons. The basic aluminum can be made in Canada and might be allowed in without a tariff as US producers need the cheapest possible aluminum. We can stockpile basic aluminum for national defense needs.
Motor vehicle ferrous (i.e. iron & steel) products for US production should have to be made in the USA or Canada. If from Canada, a level playing field tariff of about 10% needs to be leveled to correct for the higher drug, educational and medical provider costs US producers pay compared to those in Canada (and elsewhere).
We don’t sell many cars to either the EU or China. They can’t expect to participate in the US motor vehicle ferrous metal market.
