Does the Disney moron who cast Zegler as Snow White still have a job?

Zegler looks nothing remotely like the original character.....
she hated the prince and crapped all over its century of fans.

Disney should have canned Zegler a long time ago.

$5.94 million in Snow White's third USA weekend.

Variety and Deadline Hollywood estimate the film budget at $240-$270 million. That might not include advertising.

Box Office General Rule - 50% to theaters, 50% to film producer.

$500 million to break even could be a little low.

A long time ago, while in college, I thought for a moment that cinematography would be an interesting field to pursue. Then, I snapped out of it and earned degrees in economics, business and law. And went on to a fairly conventional career. But often thought about how interesting it may have been to have gotten into the film industry. Over the many intervening years, I have been impressed by how much of the film business is purely financial and how little might be the artistic component. You have to gather a team of producers who will put the production costs out there and buy completion insurance before the first frame is shot. This alone should be enough to prevent blunders of the magnitude of this film, but somehow, they get made. It’s a wacky, wacky business, and it draws a lot of crazy dreamers.

Question-—if you were in the film business,
would you have produced Snow White?

Cinematography is usually ignored by filmgoers, but becomes more appreciated over time.

The cinematography alone makes Vertigo, The Godfather, and Apocalypse Now required viewing on a full screen with the original 2.35:1 ratio.

There is deep irony in that Disney actually had a scene for scene blueprint to follow: Snow White 1937.

A live action adaptation which was faithful to the original animated version would have been a spectacular hit. No doubt about it. Of course you couldn't have the chola playing Snow White. You might actually have to hire a white European descent actress. After all, Snow White takes place in medieval Germany. And woke would have to be flushed.

Actually she does kinda look like the original

Note that Rachel's parents are white

What went against this movie was

1. The original was great, you can't really improve on that - perhaps a completely different story like "the Huntsman" would be ok, but recreating perfection frame by frame wouldn't work

2. Rachel's big mouth -

I assume you mean the original "Disney" character as the original, original character was from a Germanic fairy tale

The fans told Disney for years they did not want this version of Snow White. Disney’s response you will take what we give you and like it. Disney forgot that the consumers have choices. Minecraft from all the reports is a really stupid movie but is on its way to make billions! I think this is the fans way of spitting in the eye of Disney Executives who would not listen.

I agree.

What they should have done is change it - like Snow White and the Huntsman or something else.

To me, it shows the bankruptcy of making “live action” versions of animated movies that worked very well as animated movies.

Disney executives must have decided that their final success in gaslighting the American people would be for a non-white to play Snow White; after that they could get away with anything. However, I don’t think that was the major factor in the movie’s failure; it would be the snarky comments made by the non-white Snow White coupled with Disney’s ever increasing reputation for gaslighting with gender twisting.

I think the problem is that there is competition from streaming v/s the big screen.

People head to theatres only for the big noisy showy stuff. Other stuff they prefer to watch at home. OR some small cozy theatre for non-blockbusters.

If they had kept this with NO CGI, leave alone CGI dwarves, then cut out all the singing animals etc. and made it a low-budget movie AND not cast Gal Gadot (a beauty, but she has a very, very low range) and kept Rachel’s gob taped shut, then this could have worked like the way the Brutalist cost $10 million.

Rachel can sing no doubt and her voice was perfect. Perhaps a musical with songs and dancing and that could have worked.

Completion insurance. One might think Disney bombed on purpose, just for the insurance. Sure looks like it was on purpose.

Well, if you ease it in, like the black guy in “Robin Hood, Men In Tights”, it might work. Too bad Disney didn’t hire Mel Brooks to produce this parody they made of the original Snow White in the first place.

Disney/ABC/ESPN will never abandon their woke DEI alphabet mafia garbage. It’s who they/them are.

Hoping The King of Kings movie knocks the Snow White disaster further down the box office list.

Disney is on a slow march to death. Rachael Zeglar and Woke movie making are merely symptomatic of the gangrene that’s killing a once beloved powerhouse.

In my home a good night of television was Ed Sullivan, The Cartwrights, especially Hoss, and Walt Disney. Always Walt Disney with Tinkerbell and her Magic Wand waving over Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the opener.

All gone along with our culture. We have rotted from within. Sad.
