President Donald Trump on Friday said he had a "productive" call with Vietnam's leader To Lam during which Lam offered to reduce tariffs on U.S. imports to his country.
"Just had a very productive call with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, who told me that Vietnam wants to cut their Tariffs down to ZERO if they are able to make an agreement with the U.S.," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "I thanked him on behalf of our Country, and said I look forward to a meeting in the near future."

You gotta admire how Trump gets immediate results
Does he have a brother To Jam?......................
If Vietnam puts their tariffs at zero that is a HUGE win..I wonder if Trump agreed to the deal..I mean that is what he’s been asking for since the beginning, you lower your tariffs and we will lower ours..the ones upset about Nintendo delaying the pre order for the Nintendo switch 2, which is made in Vietnam, I wonder if this deal goes through if the price will be lower?
Ironic that Vietnam is now one of our top allies. What a waste the Vietnam War was.
Agreed and every conflict since.
But the weapon manufactures and the mic made out like bandits.
Many dominoes will fall. The ones that don’t will be the ones hurt the most.
So, will China now ship their goods through Viet Nam?
I guess that means Nike can keep their slave labor factories open.
When my dad (a native Italian who immigrated to the USA at 12) was in the war serving under Patton, he said they called the Germans they captured “cousins”. He was there for the famous Christmas Day battle break when the armies sang Christmas carols to each other from their trenches that were a few hundred yards apart.
Yep, and those shoes are going to be cheaper.
We still need to make products Vietnam wants to buy.
I think that Market Capitulation is nearing
THAT we agree on. It does not make me weep any less for the generation it tainted and killed.
I doubt it. Nike will keep that difference. I'm not criticizing Trump; it's Nike I hate. HATE hate.
Winning.
I think that most American were Anti- Vietnam War, AND anti- Vietnam Protrstors
they already do. Smuggling and trans-shipment is a problem. But it is in Vietnam's interest to fight it. Vietnam does NOT want to be an economic colony of China. Also, its not China's biggest state-run industries engaging in this.
As for light industry like shoe-making, textiles, basic electronics, the Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore owners of these factories already began moving to Vietnam 10 years ago.
Vietnam is the most Pro-American place I have visited in Asia.
...unless you profited from the war...
