In warning to Turkey, Israel hits strategic targets in Syria amid rising tensions

Israel launched a wave of airstrikes on Syrian military airfields this week, in what officials confirmed to Fox News Digital was "intended to send a clear message to Turkey not to interfere with Israeli aerial operations in Syrian airspace."

The escalation marks a turning point in Jerusalem’s stance toward Ankara, as Turkey attempts to expand its military presence in Syria amid regional instability.

The Israeli Defense Forces struck strategic assets at both the Hama military airport and the T-4 airbase, including runways, fuel storage sites, radar systems and weapons caches. The strikes follow weeks of intelligence gathering by the Israeli air force, which tracked military assets in the targeted bases.

The airbases, which had been under the control of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, are now reportedly being eyed by Turkey for expanded use and the deployment of air defense systems.

I can just see NATO coming to the rescue.

“I can just see NATO coming to the rescue.”

Probably not. I think NATO would like to kick out Turkey and Hungary. And Israel is very unlikely to hit anything on Turkey’s actual acknowledged territory.

As an aside, Erdoğan is in trouble politically for arresting the opposition and the economy has fallen into chaos. Now he could go to war to take everyone’s mind off that but how many times has that succeeded in the past? I don’t think we have to worry about anything other than strongly worded letters.

No matter how it is analyzed, Israel will never enjoy a real lasting peace with its neighbors. It is a very precarious situation. Given the rapid advances in military technology, if Israel’s opponents achieve the technical advantage, however temporarily, it will be a disaster. Israel can never lose a war and expect a continued existence.

I think NATO would like to kick out Turkey and Hungary.

I don't know if they even have a provision for that in the treaty.

“I don’t know if they even have a provision for that in the treaty.”

They don’t. And the reason Turkey is in NATO is the Soviet Union announced it was going to renegotiate the Montreux Convention regarding control over the Bosporus and Dardanelles straits. The US didn’t want this to happen, so they made Turkey part of NATO. A marriage of necessity but made in Hell. Europe is married to someone they would rather never see under any circumstance.

They don’t.

Then how does NATO "kick them out" as you suggest?

A marriage of necessity but made in Hell.

That was my impression at the time. In my post to you, my presumption was that Franco-German ambition had precluded such an inclusion.

Europe is married to someone they would rather never see under any circumstance.

With WAY too many Turks now in Germany, their "Mexico" if you will, with Algerians in France, Pakis in England...

American defense guarantees made lazy greedy idiots out of all of them. Now that we're broke, they scream in pain when we cut back the sugar, even a little bit. Meanwhile, they feed a restive and fatal cancer within. It's getting ugly out there.

Muhammed knew the power of procreation every bit as well as is in the Torah. The difference is that Muslims follow their laws more adherently, and by their resemblance to its progenitor benefit thereby (something to do with praying five times a day... and how many of the Judeo Christian world thrice repeat the Shema???).

It's making up an interesting apocalypse.

Europe and the US, and probably every other nation, are full of politicians reacting to this or that per their own personal interests. No one has anyone overseeing a coherent national strategy or plan. I think Trump is the first since Reagan. Before them there was Thatcher, and possibly...flawed as it was, FDR and Truman. But who today is looking at their country and trying to plan for the present and the future? Darned few. Yes, Islam is a cancer. It metastasized under Carter and got worse with unrestricted access directly into the US and Europe.

Nope. The Democrat agenda was global government, as one can easily see in Cordell Hull's behavior during that entire time.

Turkey will fill in the void left by Russia—Syria will soon be a province of Turkey then they will take Lebanon and northern Iraq. When they move on Iran—Russia will be dragged in. Russians have no love for Turks.

The social situation in Turkey is volatile, to say the least. They are in what I’d characterize as a simmering civil war. That doesn’t mean they won’t do something stupid as desperate leaders tend to roll the dice until they die. How close that is we won’t know until it happens. Look at any country that has had a revolution, go back one year and nobody is talking about revolution. It’s one of those nonlinear and unpredictable events that will more than likely be triggered by some unexpected action. Like, perhaps, arresting the opposition.

Israel could do the whole world a favor by “neutralizing” Erdogan.
