Madagascar 47%. That’s the last time I buy a pickup or a 4HD 90 inch TV from them over there. Cutting them off.

Real: vanilla beans, knit T-shirts and titanium ore.

That’s a misleading list.

Essentially all those over 10% are being charged only half the tariffs they impose on American goods. So the higher the country’s tariff, the bigger the comparative tariff advantage they have over the US.

I’d rather have seen Trump stick to his original, actual reciprocity, rather than retreat to a Bushian “kind reciprocal”, still-on-our-knees position.

That of course would have required the strong reindustrialization and bringing supply chains home argument that I’ve still yet to see the admin make to the average American.

But it’s progress, I guess.

If our tariffs are roughly 50% of what they put on our goods why is everyone so upset?

Americans should be upset that they’re not higher!

But Trump was going on about how we want legal immigration for more workers in factories, on farms, etc. Meanwhile, we’ve got a no-thank-you, miniscule level of deportations going on now.

So the usual Trump-Lite version of the actual MAGA positions.

“Canuhduh offered 0% of we dropped ours to 0%.”

___________

That’s what it should be. But I think Canada will be forcibly reminded who’s boss here.

I'm for tariffs when they equalize (or tend to) an inequality in trade.

Ours are historically aggressive, and as such, we should refrain from additional piling on (and let others talk) for a for a few weeks, and let the dust settle.

The PM of one Province, Ontario, offered that, but he has no power to effectuate it. PM Ford said he talked to PM Carny of Canada, who said it was possible...

Not exactly a firm offer.

The MSM of course is hiding that half-what-other-countries-are-charging aspect, while screaming that the sky is falling.

Yeah, I was referring just to Canada. No, to Mexico too. They’re far too corrupt and in bed with China. Canada is in bed with the drug cartel and China too, so that’s another stain on them.
