Also, colleges and universities charge full-freight for their
foreign students, allowing them to provide scholarships and
grants to their domestic students (see: Athletes, student).
Wow, 9 whole students in the entire state! It’s carnage!!!
Bye-bye...
“It’s unclear why the visas were revoked...”
We don’t want to say anything bad about them, that wouldn’t be nice. We just want to say “bye”.
I can see Governor Anklegrabber’s head exploding over this.
Democrat terrorists shall not be challenged!!
Because it's near a 100% chance they became rude, obnoxious, and possibly worse guests.
I’m going to keep beating this drum but if you listen to Sarah Adams on Shawn Ryan podcast, she talks about over a 1,000 ISIS members in the United States through legal channels like student visas for several reasons. First its treacherous to travel from South/Central America up to the US and second, coming through legal means draws less attention because they’re being admitted under legal, but false pretenses. My hope is the Trump administration knows this as well and knowing what nationalities being deported would be helpful.
Terrorist ties? Could happen.
They tried to lay a guilt trip on me: If they failed, they would be shipped back to Iran to suffer torture & imprisonment at the hands of SAVAK - the Shah's secret police. And I'm thinking to myself: "Hey, if you were so terrified of the consequences of failing grades, one woulda thought you'd actually study for the tests, and actually do the homework." If they'd had trouble with either, they could have shown up during my office hours during the previous months to ask for help in understanding. But no, they wait til the bitter end to make their first ever trip to my office, and try & lay a guilt trip. Sorry! No dice.
I was gone by the time Khomeini took over, so don't know what happened to all the wealthy Iranian grad students then. I do remember around 1980, a buddy of mine still at CU showed me 1000s of $ worth of high-end stereo equipment he'd bought from a Saudi student for, like, $50, when the student headed back home and didn't care to take his purchases with him.
In the early 80s, I observed the phenomenon of permanent ex-Iranian residents of Boulder claiming they were "Persian". I asked why they substituted "Persia" for "Iran" when asked their country of origin? They had horror stories of Boulderites turning viciously on them when they used the words Iran/Iranian. This is, of course, in a city that prided itself on being one of the most tolerant, open-minded cities in the universe. No doubt they blamed Iran, and rightly so, for deep-sixing the re-election of the Peanut Man from Plains, to be replaced with the much-despised Prez Ray-gun.
