Cory Booker staffer arrested for carrying gun on Capitol grounds as senator holds floor for more than 17 hours

Capitol Police arrested a staffer for Sen. Cory Booker who was carrying a gun Monday evening, hours after the New Jersey Democrat kicked off a marathon “filibuster” speech in the upper chamber.

“Yesterday afternoon a Member of Congress led an IDed staff member around security screening at the Hart Senate Office Building. Later that evening, outside the Senate Galleries, the IDed staff member — who is a retired law enforcement officer — told our officers he was armed,” a rep for US Capitol Police said in a statement Tuesday.

“The staff member, 59-year-old Kevin A. Batts of New Jersey, was arrested for Carrying a Pistol Without a License. All weapons are prohibited from Capitol Grounds, even if you are a retired law enforcement officer, or have a permit to carry in another state or the District of Columbia.”

The Post reached out to Booker’s office for comment.

I don't think anyone connected to Cory Booker should be allowed to own a firearm. They obviously fit the definition of mentally deranged.

What is the penalty if a regular citizen brought a firearm into the Capital Building?

If the Bookie is Spartacus, shouldn’t his body guard be carrying a sword?

He’d have to duke it out with Hakeem Jeffries…
Unless he can convince Hakeem to be some kind of underling in his imagined regime (empire).
Imagined being the big word here.
Going to GITMO both of em. Along with Obama and Fauxi.

This is outrageous and must stop. Some of these people are capable of killing Trump or others. In fact, those in Congress and their staffers etc., could possibly be blackmailed into doing who knows what. They live in that world where blackmail can be a real threat.

None of these people should be evading or going around security screening checkpoints.

Two democrat staffers, nekkid as jayboids take turns boo-fooing one another in senate room 216.
They put the video’d sodomy, in living color, on the internet.
No repercussions, except some awkward Thanksgiving family dinner table conversation.
Nothing will happen here either. Though adept and eager to apply it to others, democrats are immune to law.

This is the 2nd Democrat staffer, correct? The first is I remember correctly claimed he was not aware that it was in his gym bag. I can’t remember who he was a staffer for, but I think it was a Democrat.

Key point -->

BOOKER HIMSELF led an IDed staff member around security screening at the Hart Senate Office Building

Booker should be thrown out of Congress for that.

What a douche. You should have heard him close to blubbering at the Ketanji SC nomination hearing.

Yes. The other incidents were the day President Trump was addressing the joint session of Congress on March 4. That quietly disappeared.

Congress probing two alleged security episodes during Trump visits to Capitol, one involving a gun

Just The News
By Steven Richards, Jerry Dunleavy and John Solomon
March 17, 2025

A gun was found in a backpack on the day of Trump's address to a joint session of Congress and the Capitol Police watchdog has been asked to probe whether or how a person evaded metal detectors on Inauguration Day when Trump spoke to Congress.

House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil, R-Wis., disclosed on Monday night that the reported incidents have been referred for investigation to the U.S. Capitol Police Inspector General's office.

The most recent episode was on March 4 and recorded in a Capitol Police incident report. That report described a gun in a backpack, while the earlier — and as of yet, unproven — episode dating to Trump's Inauguration Day on Jan. 20 is not in a police file but was recently brought to the attention of congressional leaders by the House sergeant-at-arms, officials said Monday. Asked whether both incidents involved guns, Steil demurred but promised full transparency when the inquiry is over.

"I don't want to get ahead of that investigation, but what I am committed to is making sure that we keep the U.S. Capitol campus both open to the American public, so that they can come and meet with their members of Congress, but also secure so those visitors, members and staff members are all safe," said Steil, whose panel has oversight of Capitol security.

Since January 20, 2025, there have been TWO gun incidents in the capitol and TWO evasions of metal detectors. Maybe Bryan Steil, R-Wis should step down from the House Administration Committee Chairmanship.

I don’t think that’s Booker. Maybe the glasses threw me off.
I thought it might be the retired Cop.
