U.S. presidential adviser Elon Musk has lambasted the French court verdict that blocked Marine Le Pen from a 2027 presidential run after the far-right figurehead was found guilty of embezzlement.

“When the radical left can’t win via democratic vote, they abuse the legal system to jail their opponents,” Musk said Monday. “This is their standard playbook throughout the world.”

Musk, a tech billionaire turned close aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, has backed far-right causes across Europe in recent months, while the White House has become increasingly critical of democracy in Europe.

“This will backfire, like the legal attacks against President Trump,” Musk said in another post.

Vice President JD Vance delivered a withering speech in Munich in February in which he attacked European governments for their approach to a series of hot-button cultural issues. When asked about Le Pen’s sentencing, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce referred to Vance’s speech and reiterated the Trump administration’s opposition to the “exclusion of people from the political process.”

Both Vance and Musk — plus a hardline online MAGA contingent — have already identified Romanian ultranationalist Călin Georgescu as a cause célèbre victim of so-called lawfare after a top national court blocked him from running in the country’s presidential election following allegations that his 2024 campaign was boosted by a Russian influence operation.

France now risks becoming new prey for the American right wing after a stunning court decision torpedoed the surging Le Pen’s bid to win the French presidency in 2027.

This month, Trump should have announced immediate sanctions against Rumania after Georgescu, last year's presidential winner, was barred from running for office. Now court action against conservative candidates in the new normal in the EU and Trump will have to play catch-up.

Diana Sosoaca in Romania had her election victory "annulled" by their Supreme Court, and she was barred from running in the followup election.
Imamoglu was elected WHILE IN JAIL in Turkey...
Georgescu in Romania has been banned from the ballot, along with a half dozen others...

And that's not the entire list for the 2024-2027 period... and that's just Europe... We could go on to:
Guaido in Venezuela was stripped of power for trying to oust dictator Maduro...| Bolsonaro in Brazil is now in prison...
Obviously in the US, the Democrats tried 96 times (literally) to have Pres Trump arrested or invalidated from running for President again...

Also, while she was barred from running for office, she was NOT stripped of her position in Parliament... How much more obvious do you need it to be that the entire trail was simply a political effort?

You should have stopped right there. I asked for logical, factual and non-conspiratorial. You gave me:

(1) no facts about Le Pen (but for some reason have a factual conclusion).

(2) No logic. Whether other Kremlin-backed candidates like Georgescu have also been blocked does not logically mean Le Pen is not guilty of embezzlement (or that the other candidates are innocent either).

(3) The entire framing is conspiratorial.

If she did indeed break the law, she should face the music. But I find it strange she supposedly did this for many years with nothing said about it, AFIK. But when she becomes popular, then it’s a major crime.

Also, she was banned from running, even before her appeal, which from what I have read from other reports is not normal. The whole thing sure does look dirty.
