WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump did not rule out the possibility of seeking a third term in the White House, which is prohibited by the Constitution under the 22nd Amendment, saying in an exclusive interview with NBC News that there were methods for doing so and clarifying that he was “not joking.”
“A lot of people want me to do it,” Trump said in a Sunday-morning phone call with NBC News, referring to his allies. “But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration.”
“I’m focused on the current,” Trump added, in some of his most extensive comments to date about serving a third term.
When asked whether he wanted another term, the president responded, “I like working.”
“I’m not joking,” Trump said, when asked to clarify. “But I’m not — it is far too early to think about it.”
When asked whether he has been presented with plans to allow him to seek a third term, Trump said, “There are methods which you could do it.”
NBC News asked about a possible scenario in which Vice President JD Vance would run for office and then pass the role to Trump. Trump responded that “that’s one” method.
“But there are others too,” Trump added.
Asked to share another method, Trump simply responded “no.”

You mean a fourth term. He’s won three. 🙂
The problem is it would enable Nobama to seek a fourth term.🙄
Bingo!
Trolling the left
The solution that that is simple, modify the 22nd
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice consecutively, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two consecutive terms shall be eligible for election to the office again.
Master of the Trolling. Well played Mr. President.
A master troll.
We could think ot ways Trump could become president again.
But they are so unlikely ever happen.
For example, assuming Reublicans win the 2028 presidential election, and Republicans also win control of the House of Representatives in 2028, this could theoretically happen :
1. The Republican House of Representatives elects Trump as Speaker. There is no requirement that the Speaker be an elected member of the House.
2. Both the elected President and elected Vice President resigned simultaneously. With both of those offices vacant, the Speaker of the House becomes President.
While this could theoretically happen, how likely is it that multiple people in the Republican Party would agree to such a chain of events?
Exactly, you are probably correct. President Trump may want the left to do something that will make a third term easier for him.
> With both of those offices vacant, the Speaker of the House becomes President. <
Yes, but the Presidential Succession Act says that anyone in the line of succession must be eligible for the job in the first place. If he is not eligible, he’s skipped over in the line of succession.
We’re lucky for that! Otherwise we might have had Speaker Obama during Biden’s presidency. Joe gets sick, and resigns. Kamala falls out of a 10-story window. Then it’s President Barry again.
I don’t believe that Trump is calling the NBC and confiding in them.
“Trolling the left”
Yep, notice all of the off the wall stores coming out of NBC News.
We don’t want a permanent president. If his successor has the same goals/views, then that should be enough.
He’s just trolling; going along with the loony idea. In any event, I would not vote Trump again.
“Trolling the left”
Exactly. They’re already going insane.
I’d love that!
nobody in their 80’s should be running for president
