Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Thursday the State Department has revoked 300 or more student visas, as the White House increasingly targets foreign-born students whose main transgression seems to be activism.
Rubio warned that the administration was looking out for “these lunatics.” Around the country, scholars have been picked up, in some cases by masked immigration agents, and held in detention centers, sometimes a thousand miles from their homes with little warning and often with few details about why they were being detained.
“It might be more than 300 at this point. We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visas,” Rubio said at a news conference in Guyana, where he was meeting with leaders.
Many of those rounded up by Trump officials attended or were part of the pro-Palestinian movement that swept college campuses last year, and while the administration hasn’t said publicly why these students are being singled out over others, at least one sought by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement appeared on lists made by far-right pro-Israel groups as targets for deportation.
The detentions are a signal of a broader effort by President Donald Trump to clamp down on the actions of legal permanent residents, student visa holders and others who live and work legally in the United States, one that threatens to undermine a fundamental American right to free speech and to assemble, experts and advocates said.

I remember Chinese “students” at my college in Wichita Falls TX that were in their late 20’s way back in the 70’s.
While every college has forever students, I wondered why foreign students would be at a podunk college in a podunk city - near a SAC AFB.
Maybe they should look at students for espionage.

The U.S. student visa program has been a conduit for America’s enemies to plant the seeds of discord and destabilization amidst the country’s population of naive and impressionable youth. It’s about time action was taken to shut them down. They aren’t studsents. They are the avant garde agents of a foregn power and need to be treated as such. Of course our sold out media is going to spin any action by the Trump administration as Hitlerian.
Visa holders are our guests. They are welcome, but only if they don’t openly support our enemies. It makes sense to me. A message is clearly being sent: all the student visa holders have to do is receive it. When I was a student, I had no time for that stuff anyway.
Every “farm property” owned by Chinese can and probably does, house an upstairs “studio” with humming computers and illegal geeks.

If a guest comes into my home, I expect them to act proper manners, just as I would in their home. Probably explains why I don't invite my brother-in-law over.
Agreed. And by the way, many of these foreign students get US govt grants for their tuition and housing. And just in case people have forgotten, our country is broke. We need to quit paying for any foreign student, especially the anti-West propagandists.

Maybe not espionage. Maybe they just didn’t want to go back to an oppressive and closed country. I have known several Chinese “Forever” students who simply didn’t want to go back to China. They’d enroll in any degree program, no matter how non prestigious they could qualify for, and afford, then stretch the program out as long as possible, hoping to wiggle into a job offer that would offer them a green card.
Good. They came here to be students, not to support islamofascism....at least that’s what we were told in their visa applications. A visa is a privilege. Foreigners are not entitled to them. They have no right to enter the US. If we are displeased with any of them at any time, we can throw them out on their asses.
Oh, goodie! THIS year's celebrants are still up for revocation.

But at the end of the Vietnam War, it just smelled bad to me.
