In Lithuania, according to The Kyiv Independent, the tension is palpable. "Discussions about a possible Russian invasion are very frequent," said a resident of Vilnius, the country's capital.

"The war won't break out tomorrow, but we're preparing," says the Lithuanian Defence Minister, Dovilė Šakalienė.

Sönke Neitzel, a German military expert in an interview with the daily Bild, claims that "this could be the last summer of peace in Western Europe".

According to the expert, the current situation of uncertainty is partly caused by the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. He also highlights the recent military maneuvers in Belarus, which Lithuanians fear may cross the border. And in that case, what would happen?

If war breaks out you’re in much better shape than Estonia & Latvia.

With your $88 billion GDP & 2.8 million population you’ll be fine.

Don’t know if I’d put must trust in The Kyiv Independent as a reliable new source. Since Russia isn’t exactly rolling over Ukraine, why would it want/need another war, this time with a NATO nation?

And when did Lithuania become ‘Western Europe’?

"Discussions about a possible Russian invasion are very frequent,"

LOL, the people of Europe need to look up the word 'gaslighting'. Russia does not have the will or capacity to invade a NATO country.

I'm not going to complain at least they are starting to take their security seriously even if it is based on a delusion.

Putin expected a quick victory in Ukraine. Three years later, he's still bogged down with massive casualties.

I don't think Putin is eager for any new wars.

They must be worried about the military intentions of the Duchy of Grand Fenwick because Russia certainly has no intention of attacking Western Europe.

Russia has been going to invade for the past 75 years. We need more American troops and money.

Sure, Russia does not have the capacity RIGHT NOW, since they are fighting a full scale war against Ukraine and have suffered tremendous losses, but in three to five years after rebuilding, they would not be able to easily invade Lithuania (pop 2.8 million)?

There are a couple of thousand NATO troops in the Baltics.

Do you think they'll fight against 100,000 Russian troops?

Add our boomers and our MOABS to that troop number it equals out. Plus every man woman and child in places like Poland and the Baltics would pick up arms. The remember the Sovs all too well- they ain’t going back.

Russia doesn’t have the ability to mount an invasion of Europe. Hell, they have their plate full with Ukraine.

The Americans will be staying out.

So it'll be up to the Poles to fight the Russians.

They may be reluctant.

Just like in the leadup to WW1, the peacemakers were dismissed while the war pigs bleated for war—and they got what they wanted. Too bad, it did not end quickly like they all thought. Over 20 million dead...

Since Lithuania is in NATO, an attack on them would trigger a definite NATO response. Russia is not going to do that.

The war pigs are trying to stir up the drum beat to keep their war going...
