Karoline Leavitt and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, met in 2022 before getting married three years later.
The White House press secretary, 27, and Riccio, 59, welcomed their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, nicknamed “Niko,” in July 2024. Six months later, the two wed days before President Donald Trump's second inauguration in January 2025.
As the youngest person in history to hold her role, Leavitt is aware of the attention to her age — and her 32-year age gap with her husband.
“I mean it's a very atypical love story, but he's incredible,” she shared during a February 2025 appearance on The Megyn Kelly Show.

It used to be normal for older men to marry very young women. It had to do with the mortality gap. Equal age marriages are relatively recent, as in the last two hundred years.

She’s very mature for her age. That happens sometimes.

One of my ancestors in the 1800s was married three times for exactly that reason, with the age gap getting bigger each time.
While another set of gg-grandparents were both born circa 1810 and lived into the 1890s.

One of my good friends from HS married a man 30+ years older than us. After they met, he divorced his first wife, and his two kids were almost our age. I was shocked when she told me that she’d fallen in love with an older man. She didn’t mean a little older, she meant a lot older. She meant nearly our parents’ age. And she meant she was a mistress for a bit, and was ok with that. I couldn’t even relate to her after hearing that.
They had no children. Thank God. I don’t she would’ve been a good mother.
Oh, she’s been widowed for several years now.
If you marry someone that much older than you are, prepare to be widowed early. (Maybe that’s the draw.)

He married the last one when he was 94 and she was 18.
They had 2 kids together and he died at 107. This was in the 1700s and 1800s.

There were the typical local geezers sitting around the general store.
On mentions, "Ezra, I understand you are getting married to a much younger woman. Aren't you concerned about one of you not being around for the other?"
The response, "well, if she dies, she dies."
Karoline’s husband looks very young and healthy. And she is extraordinarily mature for her years. Brilliant woman.
