Russia Wants to Sell Nord Stream Gas to Europe Again, Leaders Would be ‘Suicidal’ to Refuse
Breitbart ^ | 03/26/2025 | Oliver JJ Lane

The matter of Russian energy exports is being discussed in talks with the United States, Moscow says, telling Europe they would have to be mentally ill to turn down cheap natural gas.

Russia and the United States are discussing the potential resumption of energy exports through the Nord Stream pipeline in the ongoing ceasefire and peace talks, the Kremlin says.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Wednesday it would be advantageous to “restore normal energy supply” to Europe, revealing the Nord Stream pipelines are “being discussed” with the United States now. The subject is one that will not be welcomed in Europe, which had become dependant on cheap Russian energy in the decades after the end of the Cold War, and consequently suffered a damaging energy shock at the outbreak of the 2022 invasion.

I've been saying right along this would happen....

And if this happens, dumb a** Ukraine may wise up and let Russian oil flow hrough their lines. And Ukraine gets a nice little user fee...which they gave up when they refused to renew Russia's contract in January.....thereby scr***** the whole of the EU.

The only reason this has been worth the 1 million dead + by Russia (not including mercenaries) is because of the economic usefulness of Ukraine. The Obama Administration started the conflict by supporting George Soros destabilization of the pro-Russian Ukraine government shortly after it was discovered that Ukraine had oil and gas reserves. Russian pipelines would then be running right through their direct competitors territories. The EU ‘green energy’ was and is basically a flop. They have become dependent upon Russia’s cheap NG for economies. The EU supplies a limited amount of the money and weapons they ‘pledged’ but uses as much Russian exported petroleum as it can.

Oil and Gas have a huge impact on this war from a strategic sense. There will be no ‘treaty’ without some kind of ‘deal’. Trump, I hope, makes certain that the United States gets a BIG part of that deal.

It would have been much more effective if you had not started your otherwise well written assessment with a number that is very questionable. We do not know with any certainty the number of dead from this conflict on either side. I have certainly not seen any good evidence that indicates that Russia has suffered “1 million dead +”

Please provide a link to support this supposition.

This is a number from the Ukrainians and the Western press.

You know - the people who lie about everything.

They should sell it to Europe on the condition the US pays to repair what they blew up.

Naturally they want to sell gas and Europe will buy too—they need it to keep the lights on. To the victor goes the spoils. Ukraine will make a deal with Putin even if they have to push Zelenskyy out a window to do so.

I think they probably have grossly underestimated Russian losses. I don’t think that Ukrainians and the Western Press are lying, the number just don’t make any sense. Attacking armies generally have greater losses than defending. The Russians have been quoting 400k Ukrainians killed, and I would expect losses of 3-10x that for the attacking force on essentially ENTRENCHED positions.

The Russians, the US press, the Ukrainians all produce ‘lies’ or propaganda, in this we agree. Who really knows?

Estimates make no sense. Attacking armies, on fixed positions, usually have casualties 3-10x of the defenders. Ukraine has losses of 400k, that puts Russia over 1 million (not including Navy, Mercenary losses, or missing-which aren’t included in ‘Russian Dead’ assessments). The situation ‘entrenchment and direct assault of fixed positions’ suggests staggering losses for the attacker compared to defenders. Keep in mind that since the Russians have taken ground, the Western ‘intelligence’ will underestimate the casualties. The Russians, who don’t want to pay spouse benefits, will not report. 400K Ukrainian means over a million Russians by ‘historical measures’. Look at the vehicle losses, they are about 3:1 (predictable). We certainly don’t KNOW exactly how many. I assume both sides are probably under reporting (lying), then consider the assault and defense styles.

Finally, you can debate what is reported all day, but both sides aren’t exactly trustworthy. The math 3+:1 is better at estimation here. The Ukrainians should care about Ukrainian losses, because they can’t sustain them. The Russians can kill millions, and have in the past, and it doesn’t matter.

Please do not get me wrong. I appreciate your posts very much. However “a million+ Russian deaths” is far beyond what our own intelligence agencies, biased media sources and even what the link you just provided said which was, “Russia: More than 700,000 killed or injured, according to a January 2025 estimate.”

You do understand that in almost all cases injured soldiers are a far greater number than killed soldiers? Except in very rare circumstances, there are nearly always several times more injuries than deaths.

For the most part you are not addressing a bunch of ignorant fools here... so my suggestion is that instead of giving a number that is far beyond what most of us are familiar with, my suggestion would be that you could have said instead: The only reason the massive losses by Russia (not including mercenaries) is worth it to them is because of the economic usefulness of Ukraine.

I do not think that this would have made your point any less valid. This is intended only as a constructive criticism only.

Personally, I believe that this area has a long history that makes the conflict about much, much more than profit, but your theory is certainly valid as well.

Stupidest thing I’ve read today.

“not be welcomed in Europe, which had become dependant on cheap Russian energy in the decades after the end of the Cold War, and consequently suffered a damaging energy shock at the outbreak of the 2022 invasion.“

Europe claims they got a damaging energy shock, but neglects to mention that they seized all Russian banking assets in the EU, cut them off of the swift payment plan, refused to convert their currency for payment, blew up the Nord stream pipelines, refused to return compressors out for service in Canada etc.

The war had nothing to do with Europe buying too much energy from Russia. And the shock they experienced was all self-inflicted. Hell, to this day Russia will happily sell Europe all the gas they can take

The entire reason for Nordstream to was to bypass pipelines in Ukraine and avoid Ukrainian theft and nonpayment. The wealthy in our country, the Romney‘s, the Newsom‘s, the Bidens, etc. all had a stake in Burisma and didn’t want to lose out. They couldn’t find a way to glom on in the middle between Russia and Germany directly.

So we got a war

It was the Bush administration that started yammering on and making direct statements that Ukraine would be coming into NATO. He handed the project off to Obama…

That’s new information that I don’t have. Please give me a link to any articles about that.

What’s bothersome about that is that Bush Sr had been one to give guarantees that the US would expand NATO east
