"BREAKING: Pete Hegseth answered a question about the Signal Chats:
"So you're talking about a deceitful and highly discredited, so-called journalist who's made a profession of peddling hoaxes time and time again to include the, I don't know, the hoaxes of Russia, Russia, Russia, or the fine people on both sides hoax or suckers and losers hoax."
"So this is the guy that pedals in the garbage. This is what he does."
"I would love to comment on the Houthi campaign because of the skill and courage of our troops, I've monitored it very closely from the beginning."'

This has reached critical mass in reporting, there’s going to be back-and-forth on this for some time, I believe Hegseth and the Trump administration have down well so far on a host of issues, but ultimately it will probably come down to the veracity (or lack thereof) concerning what multiple news outlets (from both the political left and right) are reporting, namely what is claimed to have been said between J.D. Vance, Hegseth, and others:
What Team Trump’s group chat error really revealed
3/24/25

“... J.D. Vance raises his concern that unilateral action on the Iran-backed rebels, while sending ‘a message’, carries a real risk of undermining the new administration’s America First platform. ‘3 percent of US trade runs through the Suez,’ says Vance. ‘40 percent of European trade does.’
Vance goes on:
“VP: I understand your concerns-and fully support you raising w/POTUS. Important considerations, most of which are tough to know how they play out (economy, Ukraine peace, Gaza, etc). I think messaging is going to be tough no matter what-nobody knows who the Houthis are-which is why we would need to stay focused on: 1) Biden failed & 2) Iran-funded.”
So parts of the left and the right will undoubtedly paint the administration as not being 100% America First, that they want to try and be world cop, want to procure money from doing this for the Red Sea/Suez Canal even though the US has hardly any trade going through it, that they have sold out to Israel, and want to make going after Iran and blaming Biden top priorities.
It was a trap.
‘ It was a trap.’
For who?
The Atlantic magazine is enemy territory—and should be treated as such.
No administration official should ever be in contact with them at all.
People in the administration, not Pete. Others.
It could have been an old Biden leftover contact list. Or am I not understanding the story about Goldberg
I am not accusing any particular person of anything.
All I am saying is that as a matter of policy the Atlantic should be treated just like we treat China or North Korea or Iran.
If you hack the phone you can get Signal to add the wrong person to the group.
I think the Bongino rule is in order here. Let’s see how the details change over the next couple of days.
The Atlantic is a garbage news outlet, but the focus will shift away from them (as the messenger) to the actual conversations and what was truly said, as I pointed out in my 1st reply to this (#2).
*done well.
From what I can tell it’s already changed once. Originally it was “war plans” being discussed. That clearly doesn’t appear to be a war plan (if you know what a war plan is...this is not it).
If that's true, then yeah, maybe we shouldn't be shouldering this burden.
The Atlantic is filled with crabs and garbage and lots of crap.
It’s also the name of an ocean.
That’s interesting. I don’t recall any previous VPs discussing political tactics.
I may be wrong.
That’s one of the issues this will undoubtedly be pivoted to, by left and right media: how much is the US shouldering this, and why is the US shouldering this?
Brit Hume does not agree.
just do what dems do- ignore them- walk off- they got away with it- The left are just looking for 1 issue to take down the president’s term with- this issue isn’t it- mistakes happen- end of story-
Texting is for giddy school girls discussing a crush or setting a time to meet a friend.
Texting leaves records and records can be used against you. Don't put it in text even if it sounds innocent. Without context, innocent comments can be misconstrued.
Think of how many headaches Trump avoided by not using email.
Important issues should only be discussed face to face in a room with closed doors. If they did this, they would have noticed the reporter.
