Stationed at Ft Bliss in late 70’s. One of my Mexican soldier’s brother in law was a volleyball nut. We used to go to Ascarate park to play, it had a dozen courts. Every time play was interrupted by gunfire, everyone hit the deck until it was over and then resumed play.

I think it was Chris Rock who said that there were so many drive bys in his neighborhood that everybody in his house went from one room to another, crawling on the floor.
He said he was 12 years old before he discovered some people went from room to room on their feet.
