Time to join the movement to secede from Illinois and join Indiana. Everything outside of Chicago should just leave.

I think it is to close down a path to competence and independent information. Can’t let the kids off the reservation.

too many ILL in Illinois to break the spell on the progressive majority raised in the public school indoctrination system. “Elections have consequences and then everyone suffers the consequences” applies. until the typical member of the voting public can be set free to think for themselves critically and look at and think on where this country is and where it is headed, we, as a republic, will go the way of the republic of Rome.

So, public schools were a gift and now are prison sentences.

Government no longer serves the people.

If this bill passes and becomes law, every Illinois politician involved should be arrested, tried. convicted, and sentenced to hang for giving aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States and the State of Illinois.

The “reporting” should go the other way.

Pennsylvania is worse, as I know from personal experience in the 2010’s. Mandatory work samples, mandatory academic exams (which the homeschooler must pay for), mandatory physical exams of homeschoolers.

I remember seeing a sign in SW DC listing the books a (black) high school student was expected to read in the 1960s. It was quite an impressive list.

In 1960, high school was still real school. I was a freshman in 1960.

Just off the top of my head, the reading list included, but was not limited to:

Great Expectations

Edgar Allen Poe poems

Tom Sawyer

Huckleberry Finn

Gulliver’s Travels

Tale of Two Cities

Little Women

Emily Dickinson poems

The Iliad

The Odyssey

Moby Dick

Paradise Lost

Jane Eyre

Wuthering Heights

That was not the comprehensive list, but it included most of the English books we had to read.

As far as Latin was concerned, we read Caesar’s Gallic Wars, selected Cicero speeches, poems by Livy and Ovid, and, for light fare, a compendium of Latin jokes.

Illinois is run like some kind of backwater province in the Warsaw Pact. States Attorneys regularly let real criminals walk, but this bill would allow them to send mom or dad to the hoosegow for a month if their homeschooling “portfolio” doesn’t meet the approval of the local school district.

When those kids start showing a much higher level of capability than the public school kids, look for increased regulations and punishments of the parents.

There is massive fraud in our voting system in Illinois. There is a reason they don’t want voter ID.
