If Trump decided he wanted to hold onto power past 2028, there are at least four paths he could try:

He could generate a movement to repeal the 22nd Amendment directly.

He could exploit a little-noticed loophole in the amendment that might allow him to run for vice president and then immediately ascend back to the presidency.

He could run for president again on the bet that a pliant Supreme Court won’t stop him.

Or he could simply refuse to leave — and put a formal end to America’s democratic experiment.

I’ve heard no one besides Steve Bannon even mentioning this. We don’t need it.

There, that wasn't so hard.

Is one of the ways for Trump to hold onto power is to encourage and endorse a senile and compliant man to run in ‘28? That’s just a wild and crazy thought I had.

I think that Trump wants and deserves a peaceful retirement on the golf course. This is his final four.

Absolutely not. Not at this age and not if it’s not Washington.

This is for $hits and giggles-taunting the left. He’ll be what-82 years old? Whatever there is left to do will be outside our borders. Think Sec. of State or running the UN with Musk running the EU. Avoiding war in the Middle East, Europe and the South China Sea would more than qualify. Let JD or DeSantis deal with domestic stuff as POTUS.

He’d take office at the age of 83.

The original amendment should have included term limits for President and all of congress.

Moronic, and I will never vote for any Trump family member, either. Let's not do any more family dynasties. Let's grow the number of dedicated Limited Government folks across the nation, and have the best and brightest of them get into office, and lead that way. Please no more D-list celebrities and Uber-rich folks. Just because we got lucky once, doesn't mean that it will continue.

JD Vance is showing some EXTREMELY impressive diplomatic skills, which. adhering to Limited Government principles. He will be a superb choice for 2028 and 2032, unless someone even better comes along.

Let us not fall for the Left's obvious bait for the "Trump is a Dictator" nonsense.

He could exploit a little-noticed loophole in the amendment that might allow him to run for vice president and then immediately ascend back to the presidency.... It says nothing about a person becoming president for a third term by some other legal avenue — for instance, by being elected vice president and then ascending back to the presidency...

The author is an idiot.

The 12th amendment says "But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States."

[[And Trump, of course, already has a track record of trying to remain in office beyond his lawful tenure.]]

polutico pooping their pants about the possibility

Basically they are saying:

He could call for a repeal of Amendment .

He could run for VP then imemdiately ascend to presidency again.

He could run for president again ecause the SC is so pro Trump (Bahahahaha- what a whopper).

Or he could refuse to leave thus putting a formal end to our nation’s democracy experiment. LOL- Yep- sure!

Yeah suuurrre polutico You wads!

Thru his appointments, he seems to be building a strong bench to get up to bat in ‘28.

That’ll be the time for Donald to get his OGA Masters card.

I vote #4.

The Democratic experiment ended in 1963. We are just pretending at this point. Might as well make it official.

No need. Pass the torch to Vance. The greatest gift that Washington gave to the country was refusing to run for a third term. This enshrined a limited incumbency for the president, something that is quite rare historically.
