All of the 10 fastest growing counties with more than 20,000 residents between 2023 and 2024 were in five states (see Table below), according to just released Census Bureau data (Texas, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Arizona).
Nine of the 10 fastest growers were in the now dominant southeast region. Taxes are well below the median in each of these states and they are all right to work states.
Four of the fastest growing counties were in Texas. Kaufman County in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area had the largest percentage increase among the metropolitan areas.
The nation’s fastest growing county was Dawson, Georgia (in suburban Atlanta), which gained 6.4%.
What a shame Idaho is not on the list. I can understand why with all the horrible things in that state. Neck deep snow most of the year, lots of animals that want to eat you. Stay away if you want to survive.
Soon to be purple?
You sound like my brother in Colorado, he never mentions summer afternoons, only -25 degree mornings.
Trust me, the leftist and foreigner virus spreading, at least the Texas ones.
LOL...you’ve got a smart brother!
I live in Montgomery County Texas, and the growth has been horrible.
And already overcrowded area is just bursting at the seams.
Had to go thrown The Woodlands yesterday around 4, and the amount of traffic in that place should be illegal.
The DFW area and cities north (Frisco, McKinney, Celina, Denton, etc.) are growing horribly. Mile after mile of cardboard suburb houses and apartments, which will probably be slums in 20 years. Just awful.
The Woodlands has turned into Houston in the last 20 or so years. I avoid that whole area during rush hour.
Arizona ceased to be red a while back.
That has not been our experience in FL. If anything, more red.
4 of 10 are from Texas
I well remember. Tried to “redify” our current location but not quite there yet. 😊👍
I lived in the Houston and Dallas metro areas back in the mid 80’s. Traffic was awful back then, too.
I hate traffic. That’s why I live in a semi-rural town now. My little town is growing faster than I’d like.
We left Kaufman County over 2 years ago because of growth…OF TRAFFIC!!!they approved all kinds of building without making more or wider roads. So love where we are now a couple of counties east.
The fastest growing county in Texas some years ago was one of those huge country sized ones down by Big Bend, growth was around 50%.
A dig revealed the population went from ~900 to 1400 or so !!
Not in Florida. We are redder now than before COVID.
Proud of you guys. Are you sure the increase in red isn’t sunburns? 😂👍
I live in the Big Nothing.
We see people move in, build nice homes and settle into living local.
We are natives, ancestors moved to this county in 1889. We have owned/operated farms here since then. Before that in Coryell County. Before that other places. My dad’s grandfather was born in Texas During the Republic.
Pinal County, AZ abuts Maricopa County to the east and about 35% of it is considered in the Phx metro area. Lots and lots of flat desert land out there. Wide open spaces. Just need the water.
It went for Trump 61-39 in 2024.
