I think Michael Barnier, the EU Brexit negotiator, would be able to get a better deal for Ukraine.

“power plants”

Why is that even a negotiating issue?

“dividing up certain assets”

Russia isn’t going to be given more than it has already snatched.

Zelensky will find some excuse to say the deal is not good so he can continue the war using money from the EU

I remain intrigued by mention of power plants, which have not been mentioned before.

The super duper large nuclear power plant in the south of Ukraine has been under Russian control for about 2 years, in fact don’t have a map handy but it may reside in one of the new Russian oblasts.

The idea could be . . . free power from that plant for 5 or 10 years or something, sent to Ukraine as part of enticement to accept various things.

Russia is going to leave Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant well as occupied Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in exchange for recognition of Crimea and occupied Donbas territory as Russian territory.

Russia cannot trust Ukraine with that power plant since Ukraine has threatened to blow it up several times hoping the radiation will go into Russian areas

No Russia will keep all the things you mentioned since Ukraine has no choice and does not deserve them

That’s some classic Trump-speak.

I predict something gets signed on May 9.

This new Russian Zaporizhzhia Oblast is not 100% under Russian control, but the big nuke plant is.

If an argument were to develop about it, it would be conceivable that Russia sends experts to remove the fuel rods and ship them out, and then destroy the plant entirely.

But it seems far more enticing for Russia to offer free power to Ukraine citizens, no billing by any local company other than for wire maintenance. This would raise some eyebrows from the citizenry, who would know that if Ukraine had that reactor they would not get such free power.

Russia has no access to their western Black Sea ports in Crimea. Sevastopol is under Ukrainian fire control and 30% of Putin’s Black Sea flotilla sleeps with the fishes.

When the diving is done, Odessa will be Russian again and Ukraine will cease to exist.

Panama is being divied up so to speak as well, and for similar reasoning, e.g., they violated the terms of their independence.

Both Panama and Ukraine have broken the terms of self management.

Trump is using Panama as an example of US interests and Great Power regional influence, and in this way will eventually announce Ukraine too is gonig back to Russia and her sphere.

Anyone not connecting the two situations and Trump’s worldview will awake to that reality.

Diplomacy sometimes requires a dual situation in order to sell it for public consumption. Panama returning under American domain is Trump’s Ukraine solution as well for Russia.

England screwed Trump repeatedly. BOE is overextended and a major recession is coming. Trump will break Starmer, Macron and the EU Brussels Govt returning national independence to EUropean states, using Ukraine to break the partners of the DNC.

Ukraine for Trump solves political opposition and economic challenges from antiTrump EU States. Ukraine breaks the gravy train fir domestic political opposition and sets them up for prosecution.

Yeah, it would be better to bring a lifelong left-leaning, Globalist parasite who never held a real job into the mix over Trump. Right.

Just end the damn war now so that mothers/brothers/sisters and children in both nations are spared further ruin and grief.

My Polish friend says that Donbas is 95% Russian, speak Russian, and identify as Russian. He says about 70% Crimea the same, but only because the Russians moved in by force. They should split crimea, both could use the ports, and it might help them start trading again. That’s if both sides really want to move on as independent, and potentially trading partners.

Ending the war is one thing. The best way to keep the peace is commerce. When everybody makes out, nobody interested in wars.
